I talked about some rising juniors and seniors the other day. Today, I'd like to highlight a few new names in the 2028 class to keep some tabs on over this summer. It may be a little early for them to drum up as much attention as the older kids, but here are a few names to know.

The Kettle Moraine newcomer played her best basketball to end her first season as a Laser. Once she found her role within that senior-latent team and gained confidence, Lodes became a reason that led KM to a Regional Title on the road against a solid Oregon team. Her ability to shoot would always come around, even if shots didn't fall early, but she showed some more aspects to her game with her ability to do some things off the dribble when the ball got to her on the weak side. There's room to grow, but she showed plenty of growth over the high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='874385' first='Alayna' last='Lemorande'] is a name you may not have heard yet. The Bay Port guard battled through knee issues throughout her youth days, and it seeped into her first high school season. She showed some flashes last summer when she returned from another knee injury but still needed time to be 100%. If you were looking for a name that could pop out of nowhere in this class this summer, it'd be Lemorandes. We'll see if she can get back for AAU, but if she does, she could pop.

The West Salem forward caught my attention at the Freshman Showcase last September. She showed some ability to operate with the ball in her hands and to finish around the rim through contact. Playing behind a D2 kid in their senior year at West Salem limited the opportunities Hendrickson got in her first season, but there are things to like about what she does, and I'll be curious to see how she plays this spring and summer.

Sometimes, you must be lucky to get an opportunity, and Mocadlo was this season. Injuries to Hortonville's two starting opened up a significant void that Mocadlo earned the time she got in their absence, and I thought she did an excellent job with what the Polar Bears had at the time. The newcomer showed she could make some things happen with the ball in her hands and didn't shy away from anything once she got on the floor. There is still plenty of physical and mental growth for her in these next few years, but the competitiveness is there, which will help her maximize what she can be in the always-challenging Fox Valley Association.
