Last year, Merritt won a dog fight over Dale for the Class 2A State Title. The Lady Pirates didn't have Anderson for that battle, and she was a huge difference in this win for top ranked Dale. The junior has elite handles, getting where she wanted on the court. Carving up the Oilerettes for 15 points, while also handing out an eye popping 8 assists. She's smooth, she's in command and one of the most entertaining players to watch in Oklahoma.

For much of the game, Walden's performance was nothing to write home about. In fact, she only scored 6 points. But those six points came in the clutch, and her two three pointers proved to be difference makers. With the second making it an one point game in the final minute. Then her battler mentality stepped in. She deflected a pass causing a loose ball that would bounce off an opponent. Seconds later, her teammate Karson Jenkins would score the go ahead bucket. Walden would finish off the game with a block/steal combination as the horn sounded. Sealing the one point win and a trip to the semifinals tomorrow.

Muncy was one of the returning Lady Pirates who had suffered the sting of last year's title game defeat. The versatile wing brought the intensity throughout the contest. She always plays strong and tough, but there seemed to be extra fire. Made tone setting plays on defense, including a steal and pitch ahead to Anderson early in the game. She scored 14 points, on an efficient 9 field goal attempts. Her size, movement and unselfish playing style is a key component of a lethal Dale squad.

Jenkins was OBA's most consistent scorer throughout the night. Finished with a game high 15 points. Shot it well in the mid-range and was crucial in finding space to score as OBA's two senior standouts were off by their high standards. Along with the scoring, came up with 6 big rebounds. Right place, right time player, in the clutch for OBA.

Miss Energy for Latta. Smith seemed to be everywhere on defense, always coming up with loose balls and forcing steals. Also was a handful off the dribble, feasting in transition. And getting paint touches in the halfcourt. Good vision and accuracy on passes. Has had a very productive two years to start off her high school career.

Such a smooth ball handler for a bigger guard/wing. Behind the back dribble moves to fake out defenders. Gliding takes in transition and halfcourt, leading to through contact powerful finishes. The Southeastern signee is fun to watch and she was an one woman fast break in a big second half that saw Harsthorne advance to tomorrow. Had 12 points and 9 rebounds, much of that come in the second half. And most importantly, her impact seemed to be that of an energy giver.

Davis is an all action player, always competing for loose balls and battling for boards. But she also was locked in as a scorer today, going for a game high 24 points. Won a mini three point shooting contest in the fourth, trading with a foe. Her two makes from distance in short succession were critical in giving Hartshorne some breathing room. Impressive all around showing from the junior, who's hunger for a State Title is evident.

Howe's leader scorer, Delt is a long armed, physical scrapper. Good touch around the rim, while also not bothered by contact. Can also put it on the floor, with a good modern skillset for a forward. 19 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. Also a very impressive 7-7 from the line.

Parker's future is on the diamond, at the University of Oklahoma to be specific. But tonight, she single handedly outscored Okemah before checking out midway through the fourth quarter. She checked out with 37 points and 12 rebounds, at the time Okemah only had 33 points. She's automatic around the rim. Crashes the offensive glass hard, and makes a killing in mid-range. If she wasn't going to the bluest of blue bloods in softball, a D1 basketball future surely would be in the cards. As is, she's a young lady on a mission to add more hardware to Pocola's trophy case.
