February Frenzy: First Round Highlights and Key Players

Remember, this is a made-up tournament as if all public schools and private schools were in one big tournament. She is disciplined, hunting great shots, finishing off two when contact presents itself, and contributing on the defensive end. You can't leave her alone as she is deadly when she is open. She's solid on the defensive end as well as she always seems to find herself in the right spots. She is playing with a lot of confidence and has been a solid contributor to the Lady Mustangs' attack. She can score it from the arc but won't hesitate to put it on the floor and finish at the rim. She plays solid on D, where she gets steals and deflections. Also, I love her ability to box out her opponent and come up with the rebound. This kid is tough and such a problem to deal with. Of course, she can score along the interior, but knocking it down from the outside, geez, she good at that too. She poses a threat no matter where she is on the floor. She contributes on the defensive end by blocking shots, grabbing boards, and getting steals. She is a gamer, and she does all the things for her club. Shoots at a high clip, rebounds, cuts with a purpose, makes the right reads, and gets after it on defense. She is just solid all the way around. Though this is only her sophomore year, she has taken the next steps as being the next up-and-coming player for her squad. She has been to the big dance, seen the success, and now it's her turn to step up and lead. They came out showing why they were one of the top seeds in the tournament. They came out in the second half and pushed the game into OT. It was a seesaw matchup in the first half, but in the second half Bearden was just too much as Cleveland found themselves in foul trouble.
