My AAU season kicks off this weekend in Romeoville, Illinois. More Wisconsin kids and teams are playing down there this weekend than I can remember in my three years at the event. Since the event isn't a live period, meaning no D1 schools can attend in person. I wanted to highlight a few kids for D2s, D3s, NAIAs, and JUCOs to watch at the event. Today, we'll look at 17U kids to keep tabs on.

In her first season at Brookfield East, Piurkowski stepped into a much-needed secondary-scoring role and played the middle of the Spartans' 2-3 zone. There were games where Piurkowski was unconscious on the offensive end of the floor and helped her team to win games or be competitive, and she got more physical under the basket in their 2-3 zone as the season went on. GLVC teams at the event should look at her, and any GLIAC coaches should.

Coming off a state tournament performance, where she stepped in and played a massive role that led to a Tosa East State Title, Kalumbula could have a breakout spring and summer. The 5'9 wing has proven she can make shots on the biggest stage in high school basketball, has the athleticism to be a solid perimeter defender, and has the defensive versatility to switch onto forwards. She's worth taking a look at if coaches have the time.

The East Troy guard was a prominent reason for the Trojans winning the Rock Valley-Valley and a Regional Championship. Burgos was a solid member of a productive defensive unit for the Trojans. The 5'6 guard was the main perimeter threat for East Troy, and teams respected her ability to make shots with time and space. Regional Schools looking for a kid who can make shots and stay active guarding on or off the ball should stop and watch Burgos if they can.

I've been a massive fan of Schoenecker for some time and even predicted she'd be the Badger-Large Player of the Year before the season. Even Though it didn't go to her, Schoenecker was one of the three unanimous all-conference selections and led the conference in scoring. Even though I wasn't correct, I'll pat myself on the back for picking a career 6.3 PPG scorer to win that award and getting close. The 6'0 wing can do anything. Schoenecker can attack off the dribble, make perimeter shots, initiate offense, defend inside and out, and make something out of nothing. Any scholarship program there should watch her if it fits their schedule.
