On the weekend I was able to check the Queenz of The City event presented by Hoopers Only. There was a lot of good talent on display throughout the weekend on all levels. I focused on the 17U Showcase division.

Here, I take a look at ten of the standouts from the 17U showcase division

[player_tooltip player_id='624537' first='Grace' last='Beckler'] (Hoop Code 17U 3SSB) - Grace was having her way without being ball dominant. It's the fact that she has a nose for the ball that made her so productive. She also stepped away from the basket and made some mid-range jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='754856' first='Jayla' last='Freeman'] (Desert Dream Elite) - Jayla is a jet quick point guard that didn't back down from anyone. As good as she played on offense, she played even better on defense. She made ball handlers extremely uncomfortable with her ball pressure. You have to love the toughness that she displayed.

[player_tooltip player_id='791167' first='Kamya' last='Young'] (Valley Prep) - The lefty came out super aggressive and never let up. She was hitting deep three's as well as getting out on the break and finishing. Kamya also rebounded very well in the games that I saw. She also played her usual lock down perimeter defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='971358' first='Nelly' last='Walker'] ([program_tooltip program_id='716029' first='Locked' last='In Elite'] 16U National) - Walker might just be the toughest guard in the class in the state. You have to love the intensity that she plays with. She did a good job of getting her teammates good looks while also getting good shots herself. Her ball pressure was next level as she has very good lateral quickness.

[player_tooltip player_id='663049' first='Lily' last='McCracken'] (Hoop Code 16U 3SSB) - Lily played equally well no matter if she was on the ball or off. She was showing off her offensive versatility by picking and choosing when to be aggressive. She was a monster on the offensive glass one of the games that I saw getting her team multiple second chance opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='689062' first='Morgan' last='Van Dyke'] ([program_tooltip program_id='716029' first='Locked' last='In Elite'] 17U National) - Van Dyke was putting in work during the event. She was hitting deep three's while also putting the ball on the floor and going by defenders. She also handled the ball very well against pressure defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='625055' first='Kinsey' last='Murray'] (Hoop Code 16U 3SSB) - Kinsey was out there at times toying with defenders. She looked like she might be finally healthy after battling injuries all season. She was blowing by defenders and when she wasn't she was initiating contact and finishing through the contact. Her three ball was on and that made her even more difficult to cover.

[player_tooltip player_id='598979' first='Aspen' last='McClees'] (Hoop Code 17U 3SSB) - Aspen is just a smart player and made adjustments on the fly depending on the competition. She seemed to always make the correct play with her high-level instincts. She shot a high percentage from the field and also rebounded very well.

[player_tooltip player_id='831761' first='Jeorgia' last='Parks-Rodriquez'] ([program_tooltip program_id='716029' first='Locked' last='In Elite'] 17U National) - If this event was any indication Parks-Rodriguez will look to make some noise this spring/summer. She has always been a terrific defender, but it was her offense that I was impressed with. She looked more comfortable attacking on offense and displayed more confidence in her perimeter shooting

[player_tooltip player_id='1181913' first='Meekah' last='Nunez'] (MVP) - The potential of Nunez was not hard to spot. She played hard and was very disruptive on the defensive end with her length and shot blocking. On offense she flashed the ability to be a good face up forward. Meekah also showed that she is a good passer.
