Danyle and I teamed up to cover the Michigan State Tournament rigorously from beginning to end. We are proud to say that every team in attendance received Prep Girls Hoops Media Coverage with hundreds of live social media posts and dozens of Top Performer graphics throughout the day. Here are several 16U Saturday guard standouts that I observed.

Lexi was a gritty guard for [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'] 2027 at the PGH Michigan State Tournament who showed promise. Lexi swished multiple triples with a confident follow through off the hop and dished strong skip passes to open teammates under pressure. She worked hard to make the effort plays on defense and hit the deck for 50/50 balls. Lexi fought for rebounds and was solid on day one.

Olivia is a shifty point guard with excellent vision for Lakeside 16U. She created space from defenders to pass using behind the back snaps and quick crossovers. Olivia pressured the ball on defense to cause turnovers, made unselfish extra pass assists, and was a determined rebounder. She exploded with a downhill burst to score a strong and-one layup, then finished the three point play from the charity stripe. Olivia had a great first day at the PGH Michigan Tournament.

Reese is a 2027 point guard who grabbed my attention because of her tough two-way impact on both ends with [program_tooltip program_id='714852' first='Ohio' last='Xtreme'] 16U. She snagged two steals and sprinted back in top gear to make an outstanding defensive play-- contesting a layup with one hand, while deflecting the ball with her other. Reese converted multiple free throws, sprinted cause another steal, and buried a wing three. It was a very impressive day one for Reese at our PGH Michigan State Tournament.

Olivia was on fire from the opening tip for Lakeside 16U at the PGH Michigan State Tournament. She swished multiple triples in her first game with a smooth follow-through and pounded the ball with a strong dribble before powering up to convert a tough contested layup off the glass. Her length, athleticism, shooting accuracy, and ability to dish accurate passes with both hands were outstanding on day one.

Emma was on fire in her first game for Lakeside 16U at our PGH Michigan State Tournament. She drained at least four three-pointers, including a filthy step-back wing triple off the bounce. Emma hesitated and then turned on the burners to get by defenders with her dribble. She has the right combination of length, pinpoint perimeter accuracy, and athleticism to have a bright future of basketball after high school.

Alayne turned in a gritty effort for her [program_tooltip program_id='1244063' first='Great' last='Lakes Grind'] 16U team against a tough opening opponent. She buried a couple of triples with a high-arcing trajectory and balanced feet. Alayna worked hard on defense to create steals and block a shot. She created space with a quick spin move and demonstrated her competitive edge on day one of our PGH Michigan State Tournament.

Ava was locked in early and often for Lakeside during their first game at the PGH Michigan State Tournament. She shot lights out from 3-point distance with multiple triples from the wing. Ava took a hand-off, drove hard downhill, and kicked the ball to an open shooter on the perimeter. Her length, shooting accuracy, and versatility were impressive on day one.

Audrey was a dynamic guard on day one of the PGH Michigan Tournament with MBA UA Rise 2027. She attacked gaps with her dribble to cause fouls and converted free throws. Audrey knocked down a straightaway three, swiped the ball away on defense, and drained another triple from the wing. Audrey accelerated down the baseline, side-stepped her defender, and scored a strong and-one layup, then tacked on the free throw. She secured offensive rebounds and did a great job facilitating/finding open teammates, then making accurate passes.
