The Classic: Akeem’s Saturday Standouts

She stayed in attack mode all game, getting to the rim repeatedly and putting constant pressure on the defense. Veronica pushed the tempo and added some flair in the open court, including a smooth behind-the-back move in stride that led to a crafty layup. Also very feisty and scrappy on the defensive end. Her quick first step and hesitation dribble froze defenders. She got into the paint at will, finishing at the rim or dishing out to open teammates. Brookelyn did an excellent job creating for both herself and others, keeping the defense off balance. She outmuscled opponents for rebounds, grabbing her own miss and going right back up with force. She moves exceptionally well for her size and runs the floor with ease. She has a soft touch around the rim and can finish with defenders draped all over her. She was extremely disruptive on defense, guarding 94 feet and making life difficult for ball handlers. She pushed the rock, keeping her head up and making smart decisions in transition. She's dangerous off the bounce with a remarkable handle and cat-like quickness. She let the game come to her, played off two feet in the paint, and is very fundamental. She was automatic from the mid-range and knocked down shots with confidence. Her handles look like they came straight out of an AND1 mixtape! Shifty, flashy, and effective! She creates separation off the bounce and finishes at the rim with creativity. Alyssa shot it well from three and kept the ball moving with crisp, on-time passes to her teammates.
