Central (Dutch) College Elite Camp Standouts

Central (Dutch) College in Pella, Iowa had their Elite Camps this week for high school prospects. On Thursday it was the individual Elite Camp, which brought in over 20 players from across the state to show what they could really do.   Here are five of those hoopers that stood out on the day!   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    The best prospect on the day, if you are considering all of the factors that go along with basketball, would be [player_tooltip player_id='560333' first='Kendra' last='Boatman']. Boatman has been a hot topic this Spring with how many offers she is pulling. She has interest or offers from almost every D3 program you can name in the Midwest, as well as some NAIA offers, and some D2 looks. Well she showed why she has all these offers on Thursday. She made impactful plays down the stretch of her team's games, while demonstrating a picture perfect shooting stroke from deep. The combination of those two things alone will carry her to the next level. I'm not sure who is going to get her at the end of the day but whoever it is, is getting a baller.     Very impressed with the skill-set and overall day that [player_tooltip player_id='909494' first='Emma' last='Walkup'] of Pella High School showed during this Elite camp. The players were put through several different skill drills prior to playing 5's and Walkup looked like a natural through it all. She was assisting others, making most of her attempts, and really showing out in everything going on. There were five or six players that really stood out at this event and Walkup is in that conversation. I'll be seeing Walkup compete next week at Summer Jam. I'm excited to see what she will put together for the weekend.     [player_tooltip player_id='1258710' first='Maggie' last='Smith'] of Glenwood High School was a pleasant surprise throughout the action on Thursday morning. Smith, a savvy CG, showed her worth in every drill she did and in every game she played in. She was someone that we have to talk about just because of how involved she was in each play. Not to mention, pretty solid skill wise as well. She was consistently trying to switch it up and make the defense guess, which led to some awesome game-play for herself. All in all, great showing for Smith. She caught my attention, as well as the coaching staffs.     I understand why [player_tooltip player_id='832213' first='Lizzy' last='Mason'] has been such a killer at Central Lee the past few seasons. Mason has been a team leader in a few statistical categories over her two years at the Varsity level and she is primed to keep that rolling into her Junior season. Just like with anyone, when Mason has confidence she is at her best. She is tough to stop once she gets downhill, she makes the correct choices with the ball, and she understands how to use her angles to her advantage in both sides of the floor. If Mason put up even better numbers the next two years at the Varsity level, I would not be surprised. She can GO and that was fun to see in this one!     There is definitely some skill and knowledge of the game with [player_tooltip player_id='936706' first='Alayna' last='Kakacek'] of Pochanotas Area. Kakacek is a smooth operator with the ball in her possession. She is someone that doesn't force any action and she always competes at her own pace, never being sped up or slowed down by an opposition. In 5 on 5, Kakacek thrived as a top player out on the floor. She made consistent plays for her squad and that was noticeable to everyone in attendance. If Kakacek gets the chance, she could do really well at the next level in the right system. She just needs to find a good fit.
