In this article, we hilight a few of the many players who not only played well, but “made a statement!” They will be a force to be reckoned with and the needle of girls basketball has been moved a little more.

[player_tooltip player_id='646515' first='Zoey' last='Brown'] came into the FABC Showcase on the heels of a 35 - 1 State championship season. Brown showcased her ability to score, handle the ball, defend opposing guards and most impressive- her ability to lead. According to one coach, Brown plays the game on a different level. She has an elite basketball IQ and she reads the floor, reads the defense, and controls the flow of the game. Brown was one of the most impressive point guards in the building. She held her on against some of the best guards in the State. Reason being - she is one of the best in the State. Brown made her statement and we heard it loud and clear. “Brown, game recognizes game."

[player_tooltip player_id='248673' first='Aubrey' last='Satterfield'] is the type of player every coach loves — dependable, vocal, and always giving it 100 percent. Satterfield plays the game like a coach on the floor. She is known for her work ethic, sefless play, and team-first mentality. As one coach put it, the way she plays is the way she practices. Satterfield was impressive orchestrating the offense and getting the ball to her multiple weapons. On defense, she showed quickness that prevented opposing guards from getting to the rim. In transition defense, Satterfield displayed the speed to catch up and cut off ball handlers. Throughout the showcase, she ran the show like a floor general and college coaches were paying attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237196' first='Kalyn' last='Thomas'] was very impressive at the FABC. Thomas looked unflappable on the court and had a lot of skill for a young player. Thomas is very fluid on the floor and you don't see a lot of wasted energy. She gets up the floor quickly and can catch the pass and operate on either side of the floor. She can catch off the left side and drive right or she can catch off the right side and drive left. She handles the ball well on offense and on press break. Thomas has a high basketball IQ, and puts a defense in a bind when she draws the defense and kicks to a teammate (Clardy, Francis, Brooks, Johnson). She also did a good job of showcased a nice shooting touch from the three point line and in the mid-range area. The young guard also plays in sync with her teammates. She watches them operate and puts herself in position to receive the pass and score or help reset the offense. Pick your poison opponents. “K.T.” made her statement and her team made one as well - If this team stays healthy, we are likely to see them in Lakeland.

[player_tooltip player_id='1257559' first='Khamauri' last='Hardy'] delivered a breakout performance at the FABC and proved to be one of the top guards in the Florida panhandle. Hardy was a sefless player who impressed with her speed and quickness. She showed the ability to get downhill and score at the basket. What truly separated her was her on-ball defense. Hardy showcased active feet, a physical presence, and relentless effort on the court. Her energy set the tone and coaches took notice of her two-way impact. She made a statement and not only did the panhandle get the message, but so did the rest of the State of Florida.

Ameera Kone showed her versatility all while learning to play on a new team with new teammates. Offensively, she shot the three well, attacked the rim fearlessly, and was active on the glass. Defensively and offensively, Kone showed that she can impact the game at the 1, 2, or 3 spots. Expect Kone to be a driving force as Grandview Prep looks to return to Lakeland and defend its title.

[player_tooltip player_id='515002' first='Charlotte' last='Young'] turned a lot of heads with her crafty game and versatile scoring ability. Young showed range behind the arc, attacked the rim with confidence, and hit up and down the floor with great speed. She transitioned effortlessly between the two and the one, depending on the personnel on the floor. Her quick first step allowed her to create space and get to the rim. Her finishing ability with either hand gave defenders fits and she made a statement in the process. Young will be an important piece and could help get her team back to Lakeland.

[player_tooltip player_id='249395' first='Jazlyn' last='Bowman'] really shot the three ball well and showed that her game doesn't just reside on three point avenue. Bowman can rip to the midrange and pull up with a sweet short jumper as well. She can also take it to the rim and put the ball in the basket. She was one of the best long shooters in the building and will be instrumental in getting her team to Lakeland. Her team has the inside on lock, Bowman is the outside key who can keep the middle open for her bigs to operate. She more than showed a glimpse of that at the FABC showcase- she made a statement!
