[player_tooltip player_id='1134047' first='Delanie' last='Doty'] delivered one of the more efficient offensive performances during the championship game, scoring 13 points while knocking down three three-pointers (3-7 from deep). The guard showed the ability to stretch the defense with perimeter shooting while also attacking off the dribble. What makes Doty special is her ability to run the point guard position and be a playmaker while maintaining her aggressiveness as a shooter and scorer. She has the ability to shoot off the catch, create off the dribble, and get downhill to the rim. Doty's production from the perimeter was a major factor in Somerset's success, but her defense was key as well. Doty plays aggressive defense on the ball and also plays the passing lanes well. She impacts the game at every level, which is why she is consistently recognized for post-tournament awards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237196' first='Kalyn' last='Thomas'] showed her versatility and resilience in the 5A semifinals and finals, scoring 25 points in the two games against some of the best and most experienced guards in the state. It wasn't a cake walk, and that's what made Thomas's performance special - she competed. There were plays where the opponent got the best of her, and then Thomas would come down and get the best of her opponent- that's the competition that brought the best out of Thomas. She utilized her speed, good ball handling, trust in her teammates, and an impressive basketball IQ - anticipating and reacting under pressure. Thomas finished with multiple rebounds and defensive stops, showing the ability to defend, rebound, and contribute in transition and offense- when the opportunities presented themselves. Her speed and athleticism allowed her to cover ground defensively and create transition chances for her team. Thomas didn't disappoint - she competed and in the end made enough plays to shift momentum and ultimately impact the final outcome - a state championship.

Makala Desjarlais made her presence felt on the inside for Bishop Kenny, finishing with 9 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 4-7 from the field. There was a stretch in the first half of the championship where DesJarlais set the tone with consecutive buckets in the paint. She provided a dose of finishing around the rim - showcasing good footwork and physicality. Her work on the glass helped Bishop Kenny control possessions, and her physical play in the paint created second-chance opportunities throughout the contest. DesJarlais also ran in transition, and that is what separates her from a lot of power forwards. She can fill the lane on the fast break or lead the break herself. DesJarlais was a "beast" in the state tournament, and her resiliency and ability to perform down the stretch are what separated her from other power forwards, and what helped earn her team the 4A State championship.

Innocent demonstrated her versatility with a stat line that showed contributions in multiple areas of the court. Offensively, in the finals she recorded 8 points and 4 rebounds , while also helping defensively with active play on the perimeter and in the paint. Innocent's ability to contribute in several facets of the game made her a reliable presence on the floor throughout the tournament. Offensively, she can score on post moves, run pick and roll, face up from the free-throw line, and facilitate from the foul line. Innocent brings the energy, an edge to her game, a relentless competitiveness. When you look up the term glue player - Innocent is "guilty" of being that player.

Mims brought a strong two-way impact, contributing 17 points along with six rebounds - four on the offensive end. Her ability to convert efficiently and attack the rim with strength, footwork, and physicality showed her diverse skillset as a power forward. Mims set the tone for the state championship game, scoring on nearly every position in the first half. She also facilitated from the post when double-teamed, showing her ability to read defenses and make good decisions with the ball in her hands. She also made her presence felt defensively with active hands and effort plays that helped generate stops and transition opportunities.
