June Road Trippin': Indiana Wesleyan, Part 1

The month of June has annually been set aside for high school teams to work with their high school coaching staff on skill development, as well as offensive & defensive principles, plus participation in competitive games, whether they are at one of the state's many Summer leagues, high school & college day-long showcases, and the more recent NCAA "scholastic live period," taking place next weekend. Friday afternoon, I continued my day in Marion, Indiana, home of Indiana Wesleyan University, where there were more than 30 Varsity programs competing against one another at Luckey Arena and the 3-court Recreation & Wellness Center. Below is a look at eight ladies who stood out when I was able to see them during the afternoon's action at Indiana Wesleyan.   .    This Spring was my first opportunity to see Dulce on the circuit, but now I've also been able to see her with her high school team. At her size, she has some length, she's quick laterally, and she has end-to-end speed as well. She does a nice job of darting up the floor with her head up looking for open teammates, but she can also get downhill quickly or knock down pull-up jumpers. She can be a pest defensively, as well.     I was able to see Lydia during the high school season, and now again in the Summer, and she is a worker. She has nice length, a wiry-strong frame, and she's a solid athlete with some bounce to her. She is an opportunistic scorer who gets rebound put-backs and gets easy stuff at the rim off of teammates' penetration. Defensively, she protects the paint and rebounds, plus she does a solid job of defending screens out on the floor.     Berkeley is one of the toughest point guards you will find in the state, regardless of class. She is competitive, physical, and hates to lose. She has always been a solid shooter/scorer growing up, but she has really developed into a nice facilitator who can run offense, find open teammates, and use her vocal skills to help motivate her team and keep them organized. She's the type of lead guard who can help any program win games.     I have seen Kyra a number of times over the past couple of years, and I feel like she's someone in this 2027 class who gets a little overlooked. She is a really nice, gliding athlete, who does have quick feet and good change-of-direction ability. She has gotten stronger, plus she has nice length. She can handle and create offense, she can knock down an open jumper, and she has developed into a highly effective on-ball defender.     Though I have had her name for a little while, Friday was my first opportunity to see her in action, and she didn't disappoint. I'm not sure there was another kid I saw who was as active and ended up on the floor as much as she did, constantly trying to make hustle plays. She has a strong frame at her size, a tough demeanor to her, and she's a really nice athlete. She was mostly aggressive off the dribble offensively, and she was a nice on-ball defender as well.     Jillian is a nice, traditional post in Indiana's 2028 class, and I think she will have a lot of long-term value for the next level as well. She has a strong, powerful frame, she can play bully ball inside and overpower opponents, but she also has nice hands, solid footwork, and can make post moves, or she can slide up to the mid-post and knock down the 15-footer consistently. If she ends up growing another inch or two, watch out!     I have seen Agnes several times over the past nine months, and at different intervals, and she just gets better each time. Friday, she looked an inch taller, stronger, and more explosive as an all-around athlete. She's starting to look a lot like fellow teammate [player_tooltip player_id='761179' first='Carley' last='Moellering'] (2026) with regard to her length, strength, and movements. Agnes is a nice lefty shooter, and she's still working on becoming a better ball-handler, but she defends hard too.     I received Morgan's name a year ago when I was initially compiling the 2028 list for PGH Indiana, but I hadn't had an opportunity to see her until this weekend. She is definitely intriguing, she has some athletic talent, and she has some skill as well. She is long, wiry, but fairly physical and skilled around the paint. She can take it outside, attack a little off the dribble, and she runs well/hard in transition. Morgan is also a versatile defender.
