There are several players that are looking to have some big performances in the July NCAA Live Periods. These events can make or break potential prospects especially because how the Transfer Portal has impacted High School recruiting. It has been my experience that many of the D2, D3, and Junior College recruiters offer scholarships in July to players that aren't receiving D1 offers. These events will be crucial for many athletes looking to play on the next level. Here are some of the Southern Arizona players looking to turn in big performances.

[player_tooltip player_id='607509' first='America' last='Cazares'] is getting ready for her final year of high school basketball, and this July will be a critical stretch as she looks to impress scouts across the western region. She is one of the most decorated players in Southern Arizona girls basketball history. The 3 year Varsity starter has amassed over 2,200 career points, been named Region Player of the Year twice, and All Region all 3 years. She has been to two Final 4's , falling in the State Title Game her freshman year by 3 points. She is the best 3 point shooting guard I have seen in several years. She has a very quick release and she can hit consistently beyond the high school line. I personally saw her score 49 points in a game against a good Ironwood Ridge team last November. She will be at the Nike TOC in Las Vegas on July 11-14th, and HyperHoops Nationals on July 25th-27th. Cazares will be an absolute steal for whatever college pulls the trigger on her.

The next few weeks will be huge for [player_tooltip player_id='1140899' first='Amaris' last='Biancuzzo']. The 2026 emerging star will be playing college basketball in a year from now. The question is where. Amaris has been a 2 sport athlete (Volleyball) her first 3 years in high school but has dedicated her Senior year to basketball only. She is a natural power forward that is a good athlete. She runs the floor well and she has good agility in the paint as a rebounder and offensive finisher. She has good size at 6'0" and she has been dominant in stretches of games for Mica Mountain. I believe she will continue to hone her skills and develop into a top prospect in Southern Arizona. She will be playing in the UA Rise Session 2 in Indianapolis July 13-14, and UA Rise Final Session in Pennsylvania July 18-21.

[player_tooltip player_id='936853' first='Serenity' last='Hampton'] had a breakout season her freshman year of high school, starting Varsity and making 2cnd Team All-Region in the brutally tough 4A Kino Region. She received an offer from San Jose St. before entering high school so the expectations for Hampton are enormous. She had an undiagnosed case of pneumonia during the June High School period which set her back physically. She is just now recovering and working herself back to full strength. Needless to say July will be huge for her as she looks to cement herself as one of the top Young prospects in Southern Arizona. She will be playing in the UA Rise Session 2 in Indianapolis July 13-14, and UA Rise Final Session in Pennsylvania July 18-21.

[player_tooltip player_id='892652' first='Destiney' last='Brown'] may be the most underrated player in Arizona as she heads into her Senior Season at Tucson High. Destiney was the 6A South Region Offensive Player of the Year last season for the Badgers. She is a lightning quick Guard that is a nightmare to cover in the open floor. She is a long, quick defender that gets a lot of steals and makes things happen in transition and fast breaks. She is a solid shooter that can score on all 3 levels. But her defensive prowess and ability to neutralize opposing guards is her most valuable asset. She is always improving her overall game and she has a tremendous upside for a college that takes a chance on her. Destiney will be at the Nike TOC in Las Vegas on July 11-14th.

[player_tooltip player_id='1140901' first='Carolina' last='Anguiano'] unfortunately will not be playing in the July NCAA Live Periods. However, she is one of the most under the radar players in Southern Arizona. Carolina is around 6'0" and she is a very good inside player that can defend the post and play offensively in the post. She is very quick and agile for her size and she is as tough as they come. Anguiano has a very high motor and she is always locked in to her teammates and coaches. She has a nice touch in the mid-range, and she can score on all 3 levels. SHe is an excellent rebounder on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. She is definitely a college prospect and will excel at the next level.
