It's that time of year again, as the first July "live" period got underway Thursday morning in Louisville, Kentucky. Technically, Division I schools are not permitted to be out until Friday, but that didn't stop the action from getting underway at the Run 4 Roses Classic Tournament at the Kentucky Fairgrounds and Exposition Center. Below is a look at six 2027 prospects who stood out when I was able to see them during Day 1's action.

Novea is an extremely long, wiry, fluid, and smooth athlete. She has become quite versatile, and she can play on or off the ball offensively equally well. With the ball, she has some shiftiness to her, and she gets defenders off-balance. Off the ball, she has turned into a more consistent perimeter shooter, when she's able to run off screens and find open space. Defensively, she does a nice job of using her length, especially in the open floor and trapping situations.

This was my first opportunity to see Ava play, and I was fairly intrigued by her game. She seems to see the floor well and have a nice all-around feel for the position. She can find open teammates, pull up in the mid-range, or knock down an open rhythm 3-pointer. I also liked her effort at the defensive end of the floor. Ava has an athletic frame, and I feel like she could be a really nice long-term prospect for some of the Midwest's better small colleges.

I am becoming a huge fan of Kaylin's, and I feel like she could become a Top 30 to 40 player in this class at some point soon. She is extremely long, wiry, but also somewhat strong and athletic. She has some explosion to her, but she's also fluid/smooth and she changes directions well. She has really developed her handle and become a nice combo guard, but she can also score it and defend. I look for her to have a big Winter in 2025-2026.

Keara is a very intriguing playmaker who was banged up a little in June and missed some events we were at. But she is back playing in July, and she had a couple of nice moments in an otherwise tough game for her team. She has good vision and the ability to finds teammates all over the floor. She is also a capable scorer who can slither through the defense and find the basket, or she can knock down open jumpers outside. She is an offensive creator.

Since I last saw Alyssa during the Summer of 2024, she looks a little taller, longer, and stronger. She has also significantly improved her skillset and become a more traditional point guard, where in the past I felt like she was a shooter/scorer who could also handle and create. She has nice quickness, a good all-around feel for the game, and she sees the floor well. She can still knock down open shots, and she is an effortful and effective defender.

After watching her multiple times this Spring & Summer, Carlee has really grown on me as a nice small college prospect. She has length, a wiry-strong, athletic frame, and she moves well in most directions. She likes to handle the ball some in transition and even start the offense at times, but I feel like she's a much more effective scorer when she's playing off the ball. She can knock down rhythm jumpers, plus she can score it through contact at the rim.
