Tennessee Girls Shine at the Roses Basketball Tournament

It's funny, I know there was one ball club from out of state who had to play two Tennessee squads back to back. Shoot, their coach must have been wondering what was going on cause our girls were scrappy, in your face, shot lights out, just really played solid on both ends of the floor. That club dropped two games that day, and our Tennessee teams showed them what Volunteers basketball is all about.   Here are some names of some ballplayers who were on it throughout the Run for the Roses sessions.    The former Webb Feet athlete was getting after it on both sides of the ball. Her ability to utilize her speed to affect the game is second to none. When the ball is in her hands, she can take over a ball game and really affect the outcome. This kid can take it coast to coast, having such determination that leaves kids falling by the wayside. She has a knack for being around the ball on the defensive end. She either locks up the opposition in front of her or is in a helpside position and jumps the passing lanes and heads the other way for an easy lay. My point that I am trying to make is that this kid is something special, and I personally see what these Power 4 coaches are seeing. She is a true X factor that impacts the game in a multitude of ways.     A versatile player who has great size and speed. She is a hooper who can knock down the mid-range jumper. She can face up or get down and exploit the low block area. Defensively, she controls the boards and blocks shots. Any old school true hoopers remember a guy named Stromile Swift for the Memphis Grizzlies? This kid's game is a lot like his. A solid ballplayer who has great size and length, who can be a true disruptor.     A gritty low-post player who plays with a lot of hustle and heart. She is a scrappy kid who competes her tail off. A heady ball player, she makes the extra effort plays look effortless. She sacrifices herself for her team, and in talking about giving up her body to take charges or diving for loose balls. She knows how to use her body to her advantage and really establishes a presence in the low block areas. She's the type of kid whose offense can run through, and she can either put the ball in the hole or distribute to an open team that's in a ready-to-shoot position. This kid is solid and a true competitor.     Talented ballplayer who is a magician with the ball in her hands. This kid is a tough competitor, and she gets after it on both ends of the floor. A heady ball player, she is selfless, especially with the rock in her hand. She can knock it down from the arc or attack gaps, displaying a nice ability to hit open teammates or finish at the rim herself. She plays the game with a certain type of flair that injects energy throughout her team. Doesn't matter if she is on the circuit or in school ball, this kid is an impactful player who leaves her mark on games.     Big post player who is going to be a difference maker. Call her easy money, she is always in chill mode, but when it's time to play, she kicks it into another gear. Offensively, she is solid around the painted area, going through players and finishing strong off two. She has added counter moves to her game that make it even tougher for defenders to guard her. Anna is also affecting the screen game where she can showcase her midrange shot, but when she rolls, expect her to finish and also get a foul call. Defensively, she isn't afraid to be physical and make it hard for opponents to establish their presence down low. She's a solid ballplayer, and when she gets going, she is hard to stop.
