I've been covering Houston Christian, formerly Houston Baptist, and built a special relationship with coach Donna Finnie and her staff, so to continue that with first-year head coach Andrew Long and his staff was nice and took my mind off of my daughter having a season-ending injury with the Indiana Fever so I appreciate the hospitality as well as countless players I hadn't seen or seen enough of so let me jump right in with the incoming freshman

Wineglass will make a major jump on my next update, and I told her before the camp started that I would finally get a good look at her. Yes, she's a long and athletic guard, which is the base, so her HEZ got her to the rim off the dribble, but she also showed explosiveness to score. She rebounded and went coast to coast easily; her court vision looked good, yet seeing her elevate and drop the jumper made me smile. Her "on the ball" defense was solid, and she played the passing lane

Underwood made one of my Tip Sheets playing on the PGH Circuit over a year ago, see evaluation here, and I was excited to see her growth, both on and off the court. She stood out in the HOTSHOT competition, yet during the 5 on 5 games, she showed her "shot was hot" as she was dropping it from NBA range. She also used her athleticism on both ends of the court. Her defense both in the set and transition looked good, so did her court vision and scoring off the dribble

Espinosa is heady and plays under control, so her being a #sizedontmatter guard didn't matter. She handled the ball under pressure, yet on the flip, she applied pressure defensively, both in the set as well as baseline to baseline. Her court vision in the set also looked good, yet in transition, she hit teammates on the money. Her deceptive first step got the defender off balance, so she could score, and she played the passing lane

DeLeon impressed me off the top by earning a #THROWBACK hashtag for diving on the floor for a loose ball, and I often write I love things you can't teach, and desire is one of them. She showed the same thing going AFTA rebounds on both ends, her interior defense was solid plus she's also "long and athletic" which is and always will be the base

Douglas was another guard who brought heat on both ends of the court. Her "on the ball" pressure in the set looked good, and applying the same intensity in the full court helped to create turnovers. She also saw the floor in transition and handled the ball while being pressured. She does a good job creating her shot, as well as creating spacing to get it off
