The Towson Women's Basketball staff hosted another successful Elite Camp over the weekend and they needed the courts from both of their facilities to accommodate all of the campers. There were some repeat campers from previous sessions and some brand new talent in the event. I posted up in the auxiliary gym to check out some underclassmen that I hadn't seen before.

Sloan Buckner, Team Thrill, 2029, Guard

Sloan really stood out with her cat quick movements and athletic profile. She's a lefty with a dangerous pull up mid range shot and a strong ball handling skillset. She played strong on ball defense and made multiple efforts fighting through screens or if she got beat off the dribble. She is headed to St. John's College in DC.

Combo guard that showed versatility in her game while stuffing the stat sheet. She plays at a deliberate pace and knows how to create separation for mid range shots where she has a nice touch. She also has a good feel for when to explode past defenders to get all the way to the rim where she made some contested shots and finished through contact. On a couple of drives she deftly avoided the contact to get the bucket. She's rebounded the ball well and played strong on ball defense.

Mikaila Mastrandrea,Appoquimink, , 2028 Guard

I wanted to give Mikaila a mention because her day was cut short by an ankle injury. Before she went down she had nailed six three pointers and had looked comfortable playing both guard positions. Looking forward to seeing her again.

Jaizzy Santiago, Mt. Saint Charles Academy, 2026, Point Guard

Jaizzy was the showstopper of the camp. She's a crafty point guard slick ball handling skills and a strong passing game. She threw some highlight reel passes like a pinpoint behind the back throw on a fast break, but she also consistently made routine, accurate passes to her teammates to get them easy shots. She made some good defensive plays and had a strong overall day.

[player_tooltip player_id='943374' first='Lynan' last='Meadows'], St. Vincent Pallotti, 2027, Point Guard

Lynan continued her strong summer with a performance that got her recognized as one of the team MVP's. She played steady, under control and spread the ball around to her teammates. When it was necessary, she showed that she can score from all three levels.
