University of Oregon Elite Camp Standouts

It was an exciting weekend in girls basketball at the University of Oregon on Aug 1-2. There were approximately 85 athletes in attendance. Amongst those, some really stood out in competition. Let's recap who really impressed the Ducks coaching staff.    [player_tooltip player_id='1125424' first='Kyoko' last='Beasley'] continues to shine this summer as she attended the University of Oregon's elite camp.   From the moment Kyoko stepped foot into the arena, she was there to prove she could compete with the best. With a high IQ level for the game and a quick stride up and down the floor, she showed her talents gracefully.    Kyoko is a team player. While she is fully capable of attacking the hoop and blowing by defenders with ease, she's not shy to pass the ball and make sure those around her are succeeding.    She has a quick release on her shot and is a threat from the outside.  Kyoko was awarded two camper standout awards for her hard work and efforts.  When interviewing Kyoko, she stated the driving force to come to camp was that she wanted to become a better leader. Congratulations Kyoko, not only did you lead the pack at camp in leadership skills, but you set an example along the way to your peers around you.     Some main goals for Kyoko this season are to become a better teammate and to work on going downhill off of a screen and roll. When asked where she would like to go to college in the future, Kyoko sayas she has her sights set on Oregon and Texas and plans to pursue a D1 scholarship.     [player_tooltip player_id='925978' first='Londyn' last='Dyton'] stood out amongst some of the top athletes at camp because she was one of the hardest working players in the gym.    A well known track star at her school, one of Londyn's best strengths on the court is her speed and quickness.  Combine that with her tenacious defensive and she will have competitors on their toes scrambling.     A quality that stood out amongst the rest at camp was londyn's friendly presence.  While the look of determination might have been in the forefront of her court presence, she was sure to give smiles and high fives and words of encouragement to her peers around her.    Her goals for next season are to communicate more on the court and to get better on her offensive game.  Dribbling and shooting are her focus for improvements. Londyn has her goals set on a few east coast HBCU schools. Wherever she lands, one thing is for certain: She will impact those around her in a positive way.      Isira came into the University of Oregon's elite camp eager to get better and meet new friends. She stood out right away because she was one of the tallest amongst the competitors. With her long strides up and down the floor, Isira moved gracefully against opponents when attacking the rim.   She was able to go both ways on the inside and had a great knowledge of inside the paint footwork.  All it took was a jab move one way and a drop step around her defenders and she was already at the rim while they were playing catch up.   Isira is a great team player and enjoys encouraging those around her.  An overall all around talent, Isira can knock down a 3 point shot with ease, or go coast to coast.    Be on the lookout for this rising star.  Isira has her goals set on playing at the Division 1 level and making sure her academic achievements help her get there along the way.      Gracie came into camp showing strong leadership skills.  She was a force on the court and an encouraging teammate throughout the weekend.    Gracie's strengths are shooting and court vision.  As a shooting guard, she is not shy to bring the ball up the floor and create plays.  Gracie is strong and does not shy away from contact.    Whether she's attacking the hoop or knocking down a 3 point shot, one things for sure, there's a high probability of scoring when Gracie has the ball.    Gracie made sure those around her were encouraged and helped up if they fell down.  While lifting spirits and cheering on her peers, the coaches for the Ducks took notice to her overall skills and talents.  Gracie was awarded a first team selection at camp.     Be on the lookout for this senior next season. She has her goals set on strengthening her leadership skills and earning league MVP.  As for her college future, Gracie wishes to pursue a school outside of her state where she will be pushed to compete and grow.  It will be exciting to see where this strong willed player will land.      Shavon White walked into the University of Oregon's elite camp and immediately stood out because of her confidence and swagger. Rocking the bright orange Kobe's, Shavon was there to make an impact.   Immediately, she made an impression by working hard from the jump with ball handling skills.  When coaches were asked to grab the talent in the room and move it to one side of the court so that everyone could witness the most competitive in the room, Shavon was amongst those in the strongest group.   This guard can shoot and handle the ball with ease.  She's got a quick first step and could outrun the majority of her peers and opponents in any foot race.  A strong defender, Shavon brings confidence to her game.     Her goals for next season are to be more consistent in shooting and to be aggressive on offense by leading the way in points.  Shavon has a skies the limit demeanor and she plans to go to a Division 1 school, with high aspirations of making it to the WNBA.
