5 Rising Stocks in New England's Rankings

I had the chance to check out the Girls Hoop Series Fresh/Soph Showcase hosted by NERR, an event that brought together some of the most talented young players in the region. The gym was full of energy, and several prospects who are already making noise in the Prep Girls Hoops New England rankings stood out with impressive performances. Here are a few players that really caught my eye.    This was my second time seeing Nicolette play, and she impressed again just as much as the first. She has a super smooth stroke from beyond the arc, able to knock down shots both off the catch and off the dribble when creating for herself. Nicolette isn't fazed by slight contact, forcing defenders to do much more to slow her down. She's also a strong ball handler who stays composed under pressure, never letting defensive intensity disrupt her rhythm.     Grace may be an undersized guard, but she makes up for it with her relentless hustle and determination. She's a scrappy player who's always the first to dive on loose balls, setting the tone with her effort. Offensively, Grace has a deep bag of moves that allow her to score against taller defenders, whether it's crafty layups in the paint or confident jumpers from the outside. She's also quick with the ball in her hands, making her tough to stay in front of, and her smooth three-point shot is one she knocks down with confidence.     Yara is able to create shots for herself with ease, highlighted by a smooth step-back three she knocked down in the corner. She can't be left open for even a second, as she has the ability to make something out of nothing with just the slightest bit of space. With a deep bag of moves to get her shot off, Yara is always a threat offensively. She's also a scrappy hustle player, diving on multiple loose balls, and she's strong with the ball in the paint, able to finish through contact.     Bella uses her strong frame to shoulder past defenders and get into the paint, where she plays through contact effectively, drawing fouls and finishing through and-ones. When defenses collapse on her, she does a great job recognizing it and kicking the ball out to open teammates. On the defensive end, Bella positions herself well in passing lanes, making it difficult for opponents to move the ball cleanly and setting herself up to disrupt plays.     Leticia is a very good shooter who is constantly in motion around the arc, always searching for an opening to get her shot off. She shoots with total confidence, and with good reason, as she consistently knocks down three after three. On defense, Leticia uses her strength well, never allowing opponents to bully her in the paint. She's also an unselfish player, always willing to make the extra pass to set her teammates up for success.
