EYG Skills Clinic: Top Players

Bruno is back with the top skills clinic on this side of the Mississippi River. Over130 players converged onto three courts at Hayfield High School in Virginia and it was a treat. No waisted chatter, no dead space, just constant instructions, drills, games and life lessons from some of the best basketball minds in the country. PGH was deep in the building to bring the juice on the happenings during the day. Here are some of the absolute top performers in the building.    Mackenzie left the came early but not before establishing herself as one of the best players walking through the door. Her movements were so fluid even in drills she stood out. Some of her basic passes were no look pocket passes on the money that she executed flawlessly. When she did miss a shot or make a mistake she was her harshest critic as you can see her processing the next move to correct it in her mind.     Seeing Lauryn gliding in the air down the baseline for the finish let you know that their is something special their even if you had no ideal who she was. She is athletically gifted and plays a step quicker than the other players around her. She was effective from long range knocking down three pointer after three pointer. I was curious to see how she kept getting open, which I found out was a combination of movement without the ball and defenders respecting the blow by.     Jozi had a solid showing. She made a few plays that not many players in the country could make. She was giving up her body on a lot of plays and she will learn that some plays will be business decisions that will keep her healthy long term. She showed a good shot with a nice form and great defense. As she gets stronger plays will become easier as she combines the strength with her speed.     Kaitlyn was all over the court looking to make plays with pure hustle and effort. She finished very well and even being one of the smallest players on the court she was scrappy enough to still grab rebounds and make a lot of shots in the paint. Every time I looked at the middle school court she was making a play.     Zoe has a great motor and plays with tremendous confidence. She will challenge anyone in the gym no mater the size or grade. Note that she's a 5'4" guard starting her sophomore season. She brings an infectious energy that spreads among other players. She finishes with both hands under pressure and doesn't shy away from contact.
