Jackson played a pivotal role in Bishop Ireton’s state title defense with her ability to score from all areas of the floor. The 5-foot-9 combo guard stands out with her advanced handle, downhill explosiveness, and improving perimeter shot, while also creating offense for teammates. . Mackenzi’s handle is the first thing that stands out when watching her. She is an outstanding driver and does an amazing job passing when going downhill. She is extremely crafty and an improving jump shooter to go along with that elite slashing ability. Mackenzi was second in scoring on this young and elite Bishop Ireton squad, and she was an honorable mention in the WCAC.

Mackenzi rolled in to the putting in good numbers and solid showings in each game we viewed, which is why her All-WCAC honorable mention is a head scratcher. That aside she led Ireton in their championship game with 15 points all in the second half. She is solid all around and is a key reason for Ireton’s success this season. Bishop Ireton returns everyone next season, unfortunately Bishop McNamara returns it’s core. They should be leaning on Mackenzi more if they want to take the next step to a title.

was Bishop Ireton’s best offense in the final. In both games, Mackenzi handle looked great. She drove the ball at a high level, and she drove with real purpose every time down. She had a few moves where she would cradle the ball and use her strength to get space for an easy finish. I loved the physicality she displayed on her drives, and she put in a tough and 1. She did most of her work as a slasher, but she did knock down a long two after being left open.

In the DMV, she’s known simply as “Blue,” and the nickname fits her style. She has built her reputation on breaking down defenders off the bounce, slicing through gaps, and delivering precise passes in traffic. Her ability to penetrate and drop dimes in the paint has long been her calling card.
What stood out, however, was the evolution of her game. In the third quarter, she expanded her impact by stepping beyond the arc and connecting on three of five attempts. That added range forces defenses to respect her at all levels, making her downhill attack even more dangerous. With the perimeter shot now a consistent threat, her offensive ceiling continues to rise.

Mackenzie has been great on the defensive end. Her ability to transition from a perimeter defender to a post defender and back within the same play is an instinctive trait that most players don’t have. She is one of the smartest players in the game with the ability to take over if she chooses.
