Fast. Fierce. 3v3 Action.

The PGH Freshman Showcase and Sophomore ID Camp had over 100 players in attendance! 3-on-3 scrimmages bring nonstop action, testing players' skill, IQ, and toughness in a fast-paced setting. With fewer players on the floor, every possession matters. Who can create, compete, and lead? Below are a few standouts.    Surmons shows good shooting range and a confident touch from the perimeter. Uses a strong physique to establish position and isn't afraid of contact. Smart with footwork, often using the pivot to create space and scoring opportunities.     What caught my eyes with Whitley was how she positions and repositions effectively, showing strong awareness of spacing. Moves well without the ball to create scoring lanes and open looks for teammates. Demonstrates a clear understanding of how to keep the offense flowing in half-court sets.     My PGH colleague and lead scout, Simmie Colson, already wrote about Current from the showcase- <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2025/09/middle-schoolers-playing-up-at-pgh-showcase/">see here</a>. Currently a 7th grader, consistently finds driving lanes to the basket, showing a knack for slipping through tight spaces. Attacks gaps in the defense with precision, almost like she has night vision. Creates scoring chances where most players wouldn't see an opening.     Active and lengthy, Long uses her frame to consistently find cracks in the defense and get to the basket. Displays impressive IQ in the pick-and-roll, especially from the corner, reading the defense and making the right play. Her combination of activity and awareness makes her a constant threat on both ends of the floor.     Davis is another middle schooler that played up at the PGH Sophomore ID camp that PGH Simmie Colson evaluated- <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2025/09/middle-schoolers-playing-up-at-pgh-showcase/">click here</a>. This was my first look at Davis (in-person) and she is as real as the buzz around her! She is the definition of shifty with a quick first step and crafty handle that gets her to the cup. Confident from beyond the arc, willing to let it fly from three and knock down shots. Combines slashing ability with perimeter range to keep defenders guessing.     Sophomore big that caught my attention with how active she was in the half-court setting. Setting active screens and making smart rolls to utilize space, she made her presence felt as a scorer or in the 3v3 settings.
