On Saturday morning iKHONICS gym in Cedar Rapids hosted an event with some impressive prospects out of the 2030, 2031, and 2032 Class levels.

Here are five players from this event that I would consider Young Hoopers W/ A Lot Of Promise moving into this Fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1315281' first='Mikaela' last='Tran'] is going to bring a lot of energy and skill to the floor when she gets into high school over the next few years. Tran is a 5'5 PG/SG that checks off a lot of boxes as an all-around player already. Offensively, she can handle, create for others, shoot the ball at an extremely high rate from deep, while also being a disruptor on the defensive side of things. She understands when to pick and choose her spots, always playing the game the right way as she competes. Which is impressive for someone at this grade level. If she continues to work on her skill-sets as she gets older, she should be a varsity contributor right away for the Little Hawks over the next few years.

We are not sure where [player_tooltip player_id='1316347' first='Gia' last='Diaz-Doolin'] is going to be attending high school but where-ever it is, they are going to receive someone who can shoot the leather off of the ball when she has confidence. Don't get it twisted, Diaz-Doolin can do some other things as well. Her handle is better than average, she is athletic for her size and position, and she isn't afraid to mix it up with anyone who might be bigger than herself. All in all, there is a solid base to build on here. As long as she stays dedicated, the possibilities moving forward are endless right now.

If you want to talk about prospects that can really shoot the ball from deep in every-way imaginable, then look no further than [player_tooltip player_id='1314906' first='Reagan' last='Rosteck']. Rosteck will be apart of the 2031 Class that attends Xavier High School out of Cedar Rapids. From everything I saw at this event, this is a hooper that is not afraid to let it fly from deep. If she is open over half-court, there is a chance the shot could be going up and it might be good. I think something important to note is that these shots do not seem forced. They come naturally to Rosteck so it'll all be about how she builds off of that ability. If she rounds out the rest of her game as she gets older, watch out because she could be making a Varsity impact in the future before you know it.

When players are young in their careers, you can notice if they understand the little things within the game that make a difference. Someone who did this to a T this past weekend was [player_tooltip player_id='1316357' first='Lauren' last='Huber']. Huber will be an all-around guard by the time she gets to the high school ranks with the ability to play the 1, 2, or 3. She might continue to grow in one category and become one of these positions more specifically over-time but for now, it looks even across the board as a CG. She understands the X's and O's, while being fairly skilled herself in multiple facets of the game on both sides of the ball. With the right guidance, she should be able to take over for the Mustangs when she finally gets to the high school level.

The work ethic and dedication to the craft is there for [player_tooltip player_id='1316354' first='Lenox' last='Pershing'] of Mount Vernon. Pershing was one of the youngest hoopers in this building on Saturday but you wouldn't be able to tell that just by looking at her. Pershing makes things happen. If she is cut off with whatever she is doing, she is good enough to make a counter move and continue on with her attack. When she happens to get stopped, she is crafty enough to adapt in multiple ways, always giving herself a clean look at the basket. There is a lot to like about this one as a whole on the hardwood. Her game-play is confident and that speaks volumes.
