Sophomore ID Camp: Team 6 Overview

On Saturday, players from around the state of Florida as well as other states descended upon Seminole Sports Academy for 4 hours to showcase their talent against their peers in their class. It's an exciting event to see the class of 2028 compete against their own to see where they truly stand at the state level. Here are evaluations on one of the teams I scouted:    Demi is a highly versatile hooper in this 2028 class. Offensively, she can get to the rim or hit the outside shot. On the defensive end is where I was really impressed with how she used her length to get in the passing lanes with very active hands and high energy.     Malayah is one of the most well-rounded players in this class with her size and versatility. She showed some smooth footwork after posting up smaller defenders, and she can knock down the 3 ball over just about anyone. Her rebounding was high level and she has the ability to bring the ball up herself if she needs to. I was most impressed with her passing in pick-and-roll situations as not many 6+ footers have that kind of vision or touch on their passes.     Trinity was dominating the glass and the paint on Saturday in Longwood. Her physicality and strength are at the top of this 2028 class. She finished strong in the paint, excelled in PNR situations, and seemed to score it or snag a board whenever she wanted. I appreciated her ability to rebound it and go on her own using her handles.     Jaylah is a long athlete that did a nice job of being physical on both sides of the ball. She also pushed the ball in transition with good pace after grabbing a board. Her transition game was impressive with the buckets she scored, the passes she made to advance the ball, or even showing off her handle at times to control the offense.     Zoey is undoubtedly one of the best PG's in this class with her ability to create. She was consistently using her handles and speed to attack the paint and read what the defense was giving her. There were multiple possessions of her driving into the lane and using her vision to kick it to an open shooter after collapsing the defense, or she could use the drop down pass after baiting a defender for an easy assist.     Madi hit a 15 foot jumper to start off one game of 5x5 and then proceeded to hit a 3 with nice form on her shot from all over. She can handle the ball and open up the offense when needed. On defense, she was one of the best I saw on Saturday at closing out the shooter and forcing them to take a contested shot.     Peyton quickly showed her ability to shoot the ball in the 3x3 portion of camp by hitting multiple 3's. During 5x5, she did a nice job of making the extra pass and not forcing anything on offense. I really liked her attention and willingness to feed her post players by making solid post entry passes inside.     Sloane was an unsung hero with her being the player to get back on defense every time to limit transition opportunities for opposing teams. She used her quickness to get past defenders and get downhill towards the rim to create for her team. Her work in the pick-and-roll game was impressive with her picking up assists a few times in those scenarios. Sloane has good court vision and knew when to hit the bounce pass or throw the chest pass in the half court offense as well.
