We have reached the midway point of September. With each elapsing day, the start of the 2025-26 high school girls basketball season across South Carolina and the nation draws ever closer. Until then, showcase events rule the roost until the regular season tip off.

For a number of standout names – particularly those from the Midlands – the Southeast Elite Showcase Session II was next on that schedule. Ben Lippen School was the site for the day's play.

We at Prep Girls Hoops made the trip to the Falcons' nest in the Midlands to observe as many teams as possible. Without further ado, we begin our recap of the day's play by highlighting a few standouts from this year's senior class.

Blythewood being at the top of the 5A Division 1 food chain means the Bengals will enter 2025-26 for the first time as the hunted instead of the hunters. Thomas displayed at the Southeast Elite Showcase Session 2 that she is ready to get everyone else's best by giving them her best. If she is in the interior, she will corral her own rebounds and not give up on an opportunity until it turns into two points or a chance at the free throw line. A midrange jumper is also part of her offensive repertoire and the high basketball IQ she plays with enables her to understand when to score and when to distribute. Thomas averaged a double-double of 23.1 points, 11.1 rebounds plus three steals last season for the Bengals.

The upcoming season will be a special one for Blythewood as the defending 5A Division 1 champions will graduate its big three that lifted the Bengals to championship euphoria back in March at Florence. Williams is part of that veteran big three. Her length enables her to clog up an opposing team's passing lanes. She will get her hands and arms in the face of a would-be ball carrier. Offensively she is an efficient floor runner who is adept at making plays in transition. Attacking the rim and shooting 3-pointers are two other elements of Williams' overall game. She averaged 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals last season for Blythewood.

A litany of seniors are preparing for their final times sporting the navy blue and gold hues of Blythewood. Guerrero is one of those 2026s. She particularly impresses as a defensive standout who can get up to reject an opposing ball carrier's shot. Guerrero also does not shy away from contact as she has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line. She is someone who understands the art of handling the ball among a group of opposing defenders. Guerrero approaches the game with a high basketball IQ and understands when to make the right plays at the right times.

Teams that match up with Blythewood this season would be wise to look throughout the depth chart. Another of the Bengals' senior class that will trade in a uniform for a cap and gown in spring of 2026, she stands at 5-foot-6. Even though Anderson's primary position is at the two, she can also find time in the lineup at the point. Anderson's ball handling capabilities enable her to make plenty of plays and she has no issues with drawing contact and finding her way to the free throw line. She played in 13 games last season with the Bengals – expect that number to increase in 2025-26.
