Danyle's All-Showcase First and Second Team

The PGH Michigan Expo tipped off on Saturday, September 27th, showcasing 80 talented prospects in a full day of competitive 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. My coverage centered on the players representing Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10, and the level of play did not disappoint. Out of a deep pool of standouts, several athletes separated themselves with their performance, earning recognition on my First and Second Team Honors list.    Raquel stole the show at the PGH Expo, claiming MVP honors after putting together a truly dominant outing for Team 7. A high-level athlete with explosive burst, she controlled the game on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she proved she's a three-level scorer—blowing by defenders to finish strong at the rim, elevating with confidence in the mid-range, and drilling shots from beyond the arc. She consistently turned defense into instant offense, pushing the ball coast to coast after securing rebounds or steals and finishing plays herself or creating for others. Her quick handle and deceptive speed made it difficult for anyone to stay in front of her, while her leaping ability and timing led to multiple blocks that swung momentum in her team's favor. What set Raquel apart was not only her scoring, but also the energy and versatility she brought every possession. With Division I programs already recruiting her—and likely many more to come—Raquel solidified herself as one of the most dynamic and exciting prospects in the gym.     McKynley was a standout for Team 7 at the PGH Expo, proving why she earned a spot as a First Team selection. Running the point with confidence, she showed excellent floor vision and decision-making, directing her team's offense while staying composed against pressure. Her tight handle and quickness allowed her to break down defenders, whether it was creating space for her own shot or drawing help and finding the open teammate. She consistently knocked down shots from the perimeter, stretching the defense, and one of her highlight moments came when she crashed the boards, pulled down an offensive rebound, and converted a smooth reverse finish in traffic. On defense, McKynley's competitiveness stood out—her active hands forced turnovers, and she shadowed opposing guards with intensity, disrupting their rhythm. Her leadership, energy, and skill made her one of the most reliable and impactful players on the floor.     Mayrese delivered one of the most complete performances at the PGH Expo, earning recognition as a First Team selection for Team 2. Her shiftiness and burst with the ball made her a constant headache for defenders, as she repeatedly got into the lane to finish or draw help before kicking it out to open teammates. She mixed in a confident outside shot, hitting multiple threes, and complemented it with a smooth, controlled mid-range jumper that kept her scoring arsenal unpredictable. Beyond her offense, Mayrese set the tone on defense with her energy and instincts. She hounded opposing guards with relentless on-ball pressure, and her anticipation in the passing lanes—especially on inbound plays—led to a string of steals that flipped momentum in her team's favor. With her motor, sharp decision-making, and high-level feel for the game, she proved to be one of the most dangerous and impactful players in the gym.     Elise made her mark as one of the standout players at the PGH Expo, earning recognition as a First Team selection for Team 2. From the moment she stepped on the court, she played with pace and energy, using her quick first step to slice through defenses and create opportunities at the rim. She finished plays with toughness, absorbing contact and still converting, while also stretching the floor by knocking down shots from deep with confidence. In transition, Elise showed excellent speed and awareness, pushing the ball to keep defenders on their heels and finding teammates for easy buckets. Defensively, she was just as impressive, applying constant pressure on the perimeter and showing the grit and tenacity that set her apart from other guards. Her all-around impact and relentless effort made her one of the most complete guards on display.     Kenley emerged as one of Team 9's top performers at the PGH Expo, earning a Second Team selection for her athleticism, pace, and all-around impact. As a guard, she played with confidence and control, pushing the ball in transition where she thrived—either finishing tough, contested plays at the rim or drawing defenders and dishing to open teammates. In the half court, her sharp first step gave her the edge to break down defenders, and she paired it with the ability to score through contact or knock down shots when left open. Her composure and vision stood out, as she consistently made the right read and kept the offense flowing. On defense, Kenley was just as disruptive, using her quick hands and anticipation to force turnovers, then immediately flipping them into scoring opportunities the other way. From start to finish, she was a dynamic two-way presence who made the game look effortless while setting the tone for her team.     A'leeyah earned Second Team selection honors as one of Team 1's top performers at the PGH Expo, standing out for her well-rounded offensive skill set and tenacious defensive play. As a guard, she displayed impressive ball-handling, using quick crossovers, sharp change-of-pace moves, and a smooth between-the-legs pull-through to create space and keep defenders guessing. Offensively, she knocked down a step-back mid-range jumper and showed a variety of finishes around the rim, including a controlled floater through traffic and strong drives that absorbed contact. She consistently made smart reads, finding open teammates when defenders collapsed on her. On the defensive end, A'leeyah played with relentless energy, using her quick hands and awareness to disrupt passing lanes and contest shots. Her blend of creativity, toughness, and versatility made her one of the most dynamic and impactful players on the floor.     Emily earned Second Team selection honors as one of Team 1's standout performers at the PGH Expo, showcasing a complete game that impacted both ends of the court. She was on fire from beyond the arc, confidently knocking down three-pointers and stretching defenses whenever she had space. In transition, Emily kept her head up, delivering precise passes to teammates and making smart decisions while navigating pressure from defenders. She attacked the rim with poise, finishing strong even when absorbing contact. On defense, her energy and instincts were on full display—she forced multiple turnovers with quick hands, came away with several key blocks, and consistently stayed engaged to disrupt opponents' rhythm. Emily's combination of scoring ability, playmaking, and defensive tenacity made her a true two-way force and one of the most influential players on the floor.     Gabby earned Second Team selection honors as one of Team 10's top performers at the PGH Expo, making a major impact with her combination of skill, quickness, and relentless effort. As a smooth and shifty guard, she used precise ball-handling, subtle hesitation moves, and change-of-pace dribbles to create separation and keep defenders guessing. Her court awareness stood out as well—she turned steals into coast-to-coast opportunities, finishing with a clever fake-pass move that highlighted her creativity and basketball IQ around the rim. Gabby's hustle extended to the boards, where she fought for multiple offensive rebounds, generating extra possessions and key scoring chances for her team. Beyond scoring, she consistently made smart decisions with the ball, whether delivering a pinpoint pass in transition or finding teammates in the half court. Her combination of playmaking, scoring, and effort made her one of the most dynamic and influential players on the floor.     Brooke earned Second Team selection honors as one of Team 1's top performers at the PGH Expo, standing out for her energy, versatility, and all-around impact. She competed relentlessly on the boards, diving on the floor for loose balls and turning every rebound into an extra scoring opportunity for her team. Offensively, Brooke showcased her intelligence in the pick-and-roll, highlighted by a strong, crafty left-handed finish at the rim. She demonstrated her ability to handle the ball in transition, pushing defensive rebounds coast to coast and creating scoring chances for herself and teammates. Beyond that, she knocked down multiple shots from beyond the arc and made her presence felt defensively with several well-timed blocks. Brooke's combination of hustle, skill, and versatility made her a dynamic force on both ends of the floor and one of the most influential players for her team.
