Now that the previews for Classes 1A and 2A are complete, it's time to turn to Class 3A. These should come almost two to a day over the next week, because the season is two weeks underway, and I wanted to continue offering you a glimpse at what the 2025-26 season could hold with a preview of each of the state's 64 Sectionals once again. During the Spring of 2024, the IHSAA moved to a traditional enrollment-based format, realigning all classes with hard enrollment cutoff lines per class instead of taking nearly 400 schools and simply dividing them into four equal classes. With that said, each class has been more competitive, but the bigger classes have fewer teams than the smaller classes. This article serves as one of 64 previewing each Sectional in the state. In this specific article, I will take a look at Class 3A, Sectional #25. Below is a look at the teams in that Sectional, along with some general comments and analysis.
(SAG = Final 2024-2025 Multiclass Sagarin Rating (398 teams); SOS = Final 2024-2025 Strength of Schedule)

With Danville graduating a couple of key 2025s and changing coaches for the first time in a dozen years, there is suddenly a lot of uncertainty at the top of Sectional #25. Danville will still be a major player here, as they have an established program with skill and talent. Now, though, they will lean on a mixture of Seniors and Sophomores. 5-7 guard [player_tooltip player_id='486529' first='Maddy' last='Wethington'] (11.5p, 1.2r, 1.3a, 1.9s), 5-10 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1225182' first='Ava' last='Walls'] (4.9p, 4.4r, 1.2a, 1.4s), and 5-8 wing Allie Gunter (3.2p, 2.1r, 2.0a, 2.7s) represent the 2026 class for the Lady Warriors. Wethington has extensive starting experience, and she could easily be their leading scorer during the 2025-2026 season. 5-10 forward [player_tooltip player_id='992354' first='Jillian' last='Conrad'] (6.8p, 3.8r, 1.9s), 5-6 guard [player_tooltip player_id='990169' first='Amelia' last='Wethington'] (2.7p, 1.9r, 1.0a, 1.1s), and 5-6 guard Abbie Creviston (0.9p in 16 games) are a strong group of 2028s, they saw a great deal of time as rookies last year, and they should compete for major minutes this season. Conrad could be the next star for the Warriors. Also keep an eye on 5-11 Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1006201' first='Casey' last='Hummel'] (3.3p, 2.7r). She is an energetic inside-out forward who could give them strong minutes defensively. Like I suggested above, the Warriors are not void of talent, but their two best players did graduate, and there are holes to fill. The sooner they adjust to their new coach/program, the better they will be, but be assured they will be a headache come Sectional time.

Tri-West is not only a Sectional rival of Danville's, but they are a county rival as well, and the two programs have had their battles for many years. Tri-West is in somewhat of the same situation as Danville, graduation a pair of top contributors from last season, and now they are mixing some Senior leadership and experience with youthful talent. 5-3 Senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='884487' first='Aniyah' last='Anthony'] (12.7p, 4.8r, 3.3a, 3.2s) is an absolute joy to watch. She is scrappy, quick, fast, and feisty. She makes a ton of plays, and she doesn't err often. She is a willing and talented passer, she competes, plus she doesn't mind contact at her size. She will make them go this year. 5-8 Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1005024' first='Leah' last='Mulligan'] (5.2p, 1.3r) is another hustler who does a lot of the "little things". I expect her workload to increase significantly minus the graduates, and her improvement could be their x-factor for a great season. 5-10 Junior forward Blair Benner (4.3p, 4.7r, 1.2a, 1.4s) is their "size" inside, and she brings toughness plus physicality to the frontcourt. 5-9 Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='884681' first='Camryn' last='Faires'] (4.2p, 3.8r, 1.0a) adds more defense and rebounding to the frontcourt, plus she can play facing the basket a little. 5-7 forward Ella Smith could be an immediate contributor in this, her Freshman season. Classmate Julia Middleton, a 5-9 forward, might also get an opportunity sooner rather than later. The Bruins have a strong program, and they want a Sectional title once again, for sure.

Following 15 consecutive losing seasons, the Brebeuf Seniors have not experienced a losing record, and they don't plan for that to happen this year either. The Lady Braves suffered their share of graduation losses, but they also return four of their top five players from a season ago. The most important returnee is 5-11 Junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='751073' first='Jailen' last='Bowling'] (11.4p, 3.7r, 1.3b in 12 games). Jailen didn't have big expectations last season after injuring her knee during the Summer of 2024, but she managed 12 games, and she got better and better throughout the Spring and Summer. She is a long, fluid, and fairly smooth wing prospect, and a game changer for the Lady Braves. 5-7 Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1131983' first='Robyn' last='Pate'] (15.3p, 3.8r, 1.8s) has put together a nice career for Brebeuf, and she looks to cap it off with a deep tournament run. She is an athletic, slashing scorer who can also defend. 5-5 Senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='761173' first='Audra' last='Kendall'] (8.3p, 2.8r, 2.6a, 1.5s) is a steady, hard-working, skillful lead guard who gets the ball where it needs to go. Beyond those three, 5-8 Junior forward Chloe Williams (3.2p, 4.9r) has the next most experience, so building depth will be critical for Brebeuf. Don't be surprised if 5-6 guard Leah Soloria or 5-9 forward Lidia Suscha get an early opportunity...both are Freshman.

Guerin Catholic could be the wildcard of Sectional #25. While they have a handful of experienced returnees, they will likely be heavily dependent on a massive Freshman class. Of the returnees, 5-8 Junior forward Caroline Ford (7.6p, 5.7r, 1.8a, 2.2s), 5-5 Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='751093' first='Lillian' last='Behrle'] (5.0p, 4.0r, 1.1a, 1.2s), 5-7 Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='773832' first='Dana' last='Dues'] (3.2p, 1.5r), and 5-4 Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='992368' first='Rachel' last='Behrle'] (2.3p, 1.3r) should form the veteran core to help lead the group. Ford could approach double-double averages this season. As for that rookie class, 5-7 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1259868' first='Lorigrace' last='Rockwood'] could be the team's leading scorer throughout the season, while 5-7 point guard Cecilia Titus could take over ball-handling duties from the jump. 5-7 forward Ella Horvath, 5-7 guard Lauren Keller, and 5-9 forward Delanie Cardinal are three more Freshmen who could join the rotation on a permanent basis from the outset of the season. While the Golden Eagles are reliant on a lot of youth, Rockwood and Titus have shown big upside, so if the youngsters can mix in well with the upperclassmen, Guerin could sneak up and surprise a lot of their opponents in 2025-2026.

Additional Players to Keep an Eye on: Crawfordsville: Senior guard Molly Pierce (6.4p, 4.0r, 1.4a, 1.3s); Frankfort: Sophomore forward Ava Jarman (6.5p, 4.9r, 1.1s); Lebanon: 5-11 Senior post [player_tooltip player_id='883672' first='Jade' last='Mount'] (8.1p, 4.8r) and Junior guard Ali Bir (4.9, 2.7r, 1.4a, 1.3s)
