Day One wasn't just defined by the headline scorers and the clutch closers — it was shaped by the side dishes that make the meal, the players who may not fill the highlight reel but absolutely give it their all to hold everything together. These players are the quiet ones, keeping teams steady possession after possession. These are the Gravy Players, the ones who pull the whole meal together without needing applause and often without receiving one. In this article, we look at Day One's under the radar performers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1444822' first='Peyton' last='Edwards'] was one of Day One's under-the-radar performers — and her efforts and contributions did not go unnoticed. On a night when her team was outmanned Edwards played consistent effort. She battled inside against players nearly twice her size, absorbed physical contact, and kept competing even when she was knocked down and simply overpowered by length and strength. One sequence defined her resilience: She attacked the basket, took a hard hit mid-drive, and was sent flying in the opposite direction. Edwards didn't fade. On the very next possession, she calmly stepped into the corner and drilled a composed three. Edwards delivered sharp entry passes under pressure, threaded a nice assist to a cutting teammate in traffic. The young guard played with grit and effort and a college coach noticed it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1444837' first='Cami' last='Felsing'] is a flat-out baller — the kind of player who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Her game is built on toughness, and basketball instincts that you simply can't teach. The Junior guard plays with an edge and a highly competitive motor, impacting the game in ways that may go as unnoticed. as a side of cranberry sauce. Felsing knocked down a clean three, executed a sharp backdoor cut for a momentum play, and consistently put herself in the perfect position as a release valve for her ball handlers. Felsing doesn't force the issue. She just makes winning-high IQ plays and impacts her team in multiple ways. Felsing's under-the-radar value is undeniable.

[player_tooltip player_id='248685' first='Gabrielle' last='King'] gave her team IQ, spacing, and consistency. Her ability to shoot the ball was noticeable from the jump and she drained several from behind the arc. King makes good decisions on the floor and is a sound and disciplined player who ran the show. King was like reliable cornbread on the table — always steady, always needed, and always appreciated by her teammates and coaches.

Iliana Dorvils was an under the radar player, at least on the scoreboard. While her two wing players were the main dish, Dorvilus provided the gravy and a little of the hot sauce with her drives to the basket and the physical bumps she took from opponents and the floor. Dorvilus handled the ball well and even when faced with immense pressure, the young Junior guard stayed composed and made the next and right play. Gritty, fearless, and highly competitive is what describes the Thanksgiving gravy. It's also the characteristics of an under the radar performer.

[player_tooltip player_id='515102' first='Madilyn' last='Ray'] is back in action after missing last season due to injury. The center showed flashes as she works her way back to full rhythm. She was solid in the paint and made players think twice about driving to the rim. She blocked a few shots and altered a lot more. At 6'3 with good foot work and elite court vision, she is exceptional at setting up her teammates for open shots on the perimeter. As a Freshman, her team ran the offense through Ray. She has the ability to impact the game in so many ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='1235885' first='Julia' last='Conroy'] brought the energy and was a playmaker on the court. Conroy is a quiet leader on the floor who lets her play do the speaking. Conroy can shoot the three and she does a good job of making the offense flow with crisp passes to cutters and shooters on the wing. The young guard flirted with a triple double on Day one: 11 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds. That's a stat line that reflects versatility and IQ. Conroy provided the gravy, the dinner rolls, and the cranberry sauce in an under the radar performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1244109' first='Aliah' last='Newsome'] made a strong first impression on Day One, and her performance did not go unnoticed. The freshman forward played with a maturity well beyond her age, impacting the game with effort, toughness, and an understanding of how to make winning plays. Newsome was active the boards, securing rebounds and creating extra possessions and getting a few buckets in the process. Defensively, she brought physicality in the paint, holding her ground and competing. Her role was clearly defined and she filled the expectations on Day-One. For a freshman in her first high school tournament, Newsome played under control, stayed composed, and had an impact during the game.
