Winthrow would be considered a 5'7 CG in the aspects that she can play the 1 or 2 positions for her team. She is looked upon to be her team's leading offensive threat while still being an impact player on the defensive side of the ball. Throughout our first week of action for the season and Winthrow leads the state in 3-pointers made. She is currently sitting at just over 50% from deep, going 11-20 so far but that's not all. Winthrow is also leading her team in APG with just over 4. This demonstrates that not only can this prospect be her team's producer on O as the main threat, she can also dish it to others around her that become open because of her creating ability when attacking. The best part about Winthrow's play-style is its simplicity. She can attack in a plethora of different ways off the dribble, aiming at her defender's hips, hitting those angles hard to get them off balance as she gets downhill. All in all, so far so good for Winthrow & Company. If they stick on this pace, they will be a group we hear about a few more times this Winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='509225' first='Averie' last='Lower'] was highlighted earlier this week in her team's Game Report against Burlington High School but it's important to note that Lower scored 40 points on 20 shot attempts in her efforts. Not only did she score 40, she also grabbed 8 rebounds as she crashed the boards hard on both ends. Lower is known as the 3-point specialist but in this contest she gave Burlington a little bit of everything on offense. She was actually more of a threat on the inside than anything else throughout this ball-game because of her natural height. Burlington didn't have anything to match that. Whenever it was plausible Lower would catch the ball on the block or flashing in the middle against a zone, squaring up, making easy work of whoever was in-front of her. When the final buzzer sounded, it was a convincing victory for CCA. Their next test won't be so easy though. They will have to take on Iowa City - West High in their next contest and that should be a good matchup across the board for both programs.

Lauren Eagleton has embodied what this article is all about. Eagleton, a 5'9 SG, has been dynamite for her Madrid High School program throughout their first two contests this Winter. Eagleton put on two dominating performances, averaging 25 PPG, 4 RPG, 4 APG, & 6.5 SPG while her team went 2-0. When you look at these numbers from a state-wide perspective, you could debate that this is the best overall stat line from any player so far this season. Will she be able to keep that up? I'm not sure if it will be to the extent it is right now but with her combination of coordination, natural ability as a Scoring Guard to lead by example, & her motor - she should fair pretty well for the next six months on the Varsity floor. You could say that this is someone who is always going to get their own. If you look at the competition in front of her, it's easy to see that Eagleton shouldn't be shut down against anyone this Winter. She might get slowed down here and there but that would be about it.

[player_tooltip player_id='833953' first='Callie' last='Hales'] has been the leading force so far this season that we have all seen glimpses of in the past. Hales, the crafty 5'9 PG, has been doing it all for Gilbert. She is scoring at consistent rates, she is creating and facilitating for those teammates around her, she is getting her hands on several tips/deflections, she is out-smarting every opponent standing in her way, and she is playing with a lot of overall tenacity. I would consider Hales as an underrated prospect. She doesn't get the credit she deserves at times. The is a hooper that the Head Coach can give the ball too and they can trust in her decision making. They won't have to worry about her turning it over or making poor decisions when it matters the most. That is something noteworthy that Hales should hang her hat on. Her smarts will take her a long way in the future as long as she keeps working.
