CCA hosted Burlington High School last night in both team's first game of their regular season. This game was CCA's from the tipoff. Burlington tried to keep it close and stick with the fire power of the Clippers but it was way too much. In the end, CCA came out victorious with a 28 point victory as we move into Thanksgiving.

[player_tooltip player_id='509225' first='Averie' last='Lower'] did [player_tooltip player_id='509225' first='Averie' last='Lower'] things in her first regular season game of her Senior season. Lower, the ASU WBB commit, killed Burlington all over the floor last night. Usually we hear about this prospect because of her dynamite shooting ability and she still had that yesterday but in reality she got a lot of her action in the middle of the lane as an offensive threat. Lower was finishing simple buckets in transition, she was scoring over smaller defenders in between the blocks at Will, and she did happen to knock down a handful of three point attempts. From the jump this game was a blowout and the reason for that was because of play from players like Lower. It was just too much firepower for Burlington to handle so in the end, CCA ended up getting the convincing victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='672168' first='Mylee' last='Stiefel'] return this Winter with her Burlington High School team as the top dawg. Stiefel is a hooper with an impressive shooting stroke from all offensive levels. She isn't afraid to launch it off the dribble going towards her right but she can also get into the teeth of the defense for a look at the basket if she isn't being triple teamed. I thought that Stiefel had a tough task in this one. It was really her and one other player vs CCA as a team and it just didn't matchup well. Stiefel did all that she could, putting up a valiant effort, and leaving it all on the floor in the end. Burlington might have fallen short but they are going to learn from this L and move forward with their season. Which is something we can all respect!

The "glue" for the CCA Clippers is [player_tooltip player_id='782232' first='Lena' last='Evans'] at the CG position. Evans stands out because she is always the first one on the floor for a loose ball, she records several tips/deflections/steals at high rate each contest, she can score from all offensive levels, and she communicates well with the others around her on both sides of the ball. Evans started off this ball game by grabbing several steals and converting those into finishes down on the other end in the first half. She also recorded several assists throughout the duration of this entire game. She had a few assists in transition, a few against a zone defense within the half court, and a few in her team's offensive system. All in all, this was a respectable showing out of Evans for her first game of the regular season. She demonstrated that she is most definitely a college level player and that she is only going to get better with experience.

From the looks of it, [player_tooltip player_id='1323000' first='Kennedy' last='Stratton'] of CCA is going to be the team's third piece to their puzzle. Stratton, is a smaller PG, who doesn't make too many mistakes within her team's systems. Stratton showed up big time in this victory while knocking down some meaningful shots from the outside off of the catch. Stratton would be considered a pass-first PG with better than average vision, a good passing ability, and a solid shooting stroke. When the rock is rotated back to her, she is able and willing to knock down shots from deep and that adds to her overall ability. CCA moved the ball pretty well in this one. They got the ball inside the lane against the zone and back out for attempts from deep, which you love to see. They capitalized off of these opportunities and that helped them secure the victory in the end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1445978' first='Daphne' last='Brown'] was the player that stopped up the most to help in the production department to help out Mylee and company. Brown is a 5'9 CG/SF that seems to always be in the right place at the right time. There were multiple occasions early on in this event when Brown was found by Stiefel in a prime position to score near the bucket when CCA went to double-team her on the drive. There were also a few times were Brown caught about 15FT out and attacked the bucket, leading to a solid finish through traffic in the lane. If Burlington wants to put together a Winter to remember, Brown is going to have to be a crucial part to that equation the rest of the Winter.
