From the Mississippi River to the Smoky Mountains and in between, the class of ‘27 will be well represented, especially when it comes to being in the starting group for programs. This class has some kids who will play vital roles in their team's success this upcoming year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I wanted to touch on the point guard position and mention some kids who are definitely worth noting. Sure, everyone knows the girls at the top of the charts in this position. Some are not that far behind and will be discussed more heavily, especially when it comes to recruitment and, definitely, as the season goes along. These young ladies are just a few girls that you will need to keep tabs on for sure. She will be closing in on being the all-time scoring leader at Hickman Co. The school has had tremendous ballplayers who went on to play high-level basketball. She is right there, about to eclipse the scoring mark probably mid-way in December. She's a kid who is no stranger to the bottom of the net. She can score around the rim or shoot from afar. She is a kid who is an efficient operator nightly for her squad. She can score in multiple ways, create for herself and others, but what I love most about her is her ability to defend. She doesn't shy away on this end and turns defensive opportunities into easy transition buckets. She plays the game with a passion. A grinder who competes on every possession. Her game has grown over the past year. She will be looked upon to not only knock down shots on the outside, but also contribute heavily on the defensive end as well. Her game has evolved and will take the next steps this upcoming season. She was one of her team's leading scorers last season and will be looked upon to deliver a similar performance this upcoming season. With more formidable opponents on the schedule, she will be battle-tested as she increases her stock against non-district and district foes. This kid is solid not only on offense but also on defense. Steals, deflections, and being a part of traps, her defense will create a lot of easy buckets going the other way. She is aggressive on D, anticipates well, and gets steals and deflections that lead to transitional breaks. She is a great teammate who brings energy and effort, setting the tone for her ballclub. This year, the goal is to make it to Murfreesboro again.
