PD Scrimmage: A Deeper Dive into the roster of Cannon School

Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC hosted their 18th Annual Super Scrimmage on Saturday, November 1, 2025. There were 28 teams participating from North Carolina and surrounding regions. There was also over fifty college coaches in attendance. Let me just say there was no shortage of talent on the three courts that made up 42 total games for the day.    Let me just say the future is very bright for this young lady and Cannon School. Jakaila has already made a huge impact not only at Cannon, but with the P4 college coaches, as well. She has awesome length that allows her to have a big advantage against most of her opponents. She dominates the paint at 6'3. Gaskin has great feel and touch around the basket, moves well for her size and is a force to reckon with on the glass. She will be exciting to watch over the next few years.       A solid player on both sides of the ball. Larkns is continuing to show she can shoot the deep ball beyond the arc. She makes good decisions with the basketball in her hands and is able to locate the scorers on her team. Defensively, she can create turnovers that leads into steals and transition buckets for her team.       A well-versed player that will be a dominating contributor this season. Madison does an excellent job of creating shots for herself and for her teammates. Her playmaking ability is one of her biggest strengths. She loves to slash through the defenders finding her way to the rim. She is spicy and dicey with her one on one moves. Drayton has attracted many mid major college coaches with her finesse play.     Hina does an excellent job of pushing the ball out on her dribbles in transition. She has good speed and control that makes her very fluid on the perimeter. She can knock down the triple and has a pull up jumper off the bounce. Nakamura has quick hands on defense that often leads to deflections and steals. She has high IQ and is a fun player to watch. She will continue to get Division I interest and offers as the season goes along.     I can definitely see what all of the Buzz is about with [player_tooltip player_id='772486' first='Brooke' last='Busby']. An excellent basketball player and student. Brooke has several Division I offers including Ivy league Harvard University. Brooke is a confident shooter with long range ability. She gets her shots off because she has excellent footwork and quick release coming off screens. There is absolutely no hesitation! She is thinking shoot and score which makes her a deadly weapon beyond the arc.       Class of 2030 that you definitely need to keep your eyes and ears peeled for. This young guard knows how to control the game and use her ball handling skills as a weapon. She is hard to defend off the dribble because she changes speed and direction very well. She has a nice midrange game right now that includes an efficient floater. Larkins also has great tenacity and quickness on defense. She will continue to improve and become more of a household name at Cannon.    /
