To be a, “Stock-Riser”, means a few things depending on how you look at it but the most important factor in my opinion is that the prospect is continuously putting in meaningful work in their off-time and that work is translating to the floor in real game-time. In this piece, we cover five individuals out of this 2028 Class in Nebraska, that have embodied what it means to be a Stock-Riser these past few months.

[player_tooltip player_id='1226039' first='Alexis' last='Gutknecht'] is a nice role player to have around on the floor as a PG/SG. Gutknecht has a soft touch on the ball, she understands spacing and timing, she knows how to press offensively at her opponents weaknesses, and she plays an overall sound game as a hooper. She might not be killing you for 25 a night but she has her moments and she can be relied on to make plays down the stretch when she has other ballers around her. Southwest is a solid team, that should win several more game this Winter if they play their cards right.

The combination of size, physicality, and presence that [player_tooltip player_id='895541' first='Nyla' last='Jones'] plays with under the bucket is noteworthy. Jones is a player out of this 2028 Class with the natural build to be dominant in-between the blocks. She knows how to move around and beat her opponents with smart play, compared to trying to outwork them. Don't get me wrong, Jones works hard but she would rather play smarter than harder and I think we can all respect that. I think Jones could end this Winter off with a bang and carry that momentum into AAU season with her Nebraska Hoops [program_tooltip program_id='713325' first='Elite' last=''] program.

The type of aggressive and calculated edge that [player_tooltip player_id='1319435' first='Valerie' last='Campos'] competes with is something you love to see. Campos is a coordinated player with a lot of natural skill. She doesn't just possess skill, she understands situational basketball and she knows how the X's and O's work along with being able to adapt in the blink of an eye. Offensively, Campos is a threat. She will beat you off the dribble, pass, or even to the bucket. If not, she can bring it back out and hit jumpers when she has a small window of time and space. There is a lot to like so far out of Campos moving halfway through her Sophomore season. If she keeps this up, she should follow things up with an AAU season to remember come next Spring but we will just have to wait and see.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221216' first='Abi' last='Spargo'] of Dundy County Stratton is going to be a name to watch out for as we move into the Playoffs in a short few months. Spargo is a killer against her competition because of her size and agile movement. Spargo stands right around 6'0 and she has a motor that most cannot match. Not to mention, she knows how to judge a rebound so well that she usually just makes easy work of anyone that tries to stand in her way. Spargo has had some respectable stat-lines so far this Winter. If she keeps working at this rate, she should have a few more before everything is said and done over the next few months.

Skutt Catholic has taken a step back this Winter since coming off of their title last season. They have a new staff and a new lineup for the most part. Last Winter they won a State Title but during that run they didn't play many underclassman, which is costing them now. Someone that is having a nice start to her Sophomore season is [player_tooltip player_id='1045022' first='Penny' last='Currans'] though. Currans is doing all that she can. She is playing with high energy and really being a positive influence while trying to produce for those around her. She might not be the tallest but Currans has heart. She knows what it takes to be a Champion and she is trying to instill that into the rest of the program. In this Update, Currans jumps into our Top 40 at #39. A respectable spot as we move into 2026.
