High school basketball tips off on Wednesday! We ranked the top 12 teams in the 5A classification and will update the list weekly during the regular season.

Here is our breakdown of the teams ranked 5 through 8 (Go to Top 4):

5. Redmond

2024-25 Record: 21-7 (10-0 Intermountain Conference)

Redmond won the Intermountain Conference title, advanced to the state semifinals and lost to Silverton in the third-place game last season. The Panthers graduated three starting seniors, but return IMC Player of the Year [player_tooltip player_id='842741' first='Mylaena' last='Norton'], a point guard who can score, and junior starter [player_tooltip player_id='839066' first='Freya' last='Snow'], whose number was called in a game-winning play to defeat rival Summit in the quarterfinals. The Panthers also return sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1192568' first='Bergen' last='Porter'], who was a consistent scorer and rebounder off the bench, and add freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1264936' first='Kodee' last='Kimball'], a shooter who should challenge perimeter defenses alongside Norton.

6. Silverton

2024-25 Record: 25-4 (16-2 Mid-Willamette Conference)

Silverton placed second in the competitive Mid-Willamette Conference and third at state last season. The Foxes graduated three starters, including their top scorer, but return multisport athletes [player_tooltip player_id='991259' first='Allie' last='Mansur'] and [player_tooltip player_id='839068' first='Marley' last='Wertz'], who have state tournament experience starting at the point and the wing, respectively. The Foxes also add transfer [player_tooltip player_id='839059' first='Karlee' last='Martirano'], a college prospect from West Albany. Silverton has a couple of impact freshmen — shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1264968' first='Chloe' last='Kuschnick'] and forward [player_tooltip player_id='1246618' first='Emery' last='Yant'] — who were hooping with the Foxes against varsity-level competition in the summer and fall.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DGrxhsxR6vB/

7. Wilsonville

2024-25 Record: 19-10 (14-0 Northwest Oregon Conference)

Wilsonville defeated La Salle to win the Northwest Oregon Conference title and a good Corvallis team to advance to the state quarterfinals, where they lost to Crater. Wilsonville went on to defeat Summit and Springfield in the consolation bracket to place fourth at state. The Wildcats graduated three next-level players, but return NWOC Co-Player of the Year, Gabi Moultrie, who signed with Utah Valley, and starting forward Fareeda Elmanhawy, who battles inside on both ends. The Wildcats also add 6-foot freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1264940' first='Lucy' last='Heu-Weller'], a versatile forward/guard who could make an impact in her first year. Wilsonville is led by new head coach Tyler VanAcker.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DQ-O5Sxkn6a/?img_index=1

8. Crescent Valley

2024-25 Record: 15-11 (12-6 Mid-Willamette Conference)

Crescent Valley placed fifth in the competitive Mid-Willamette Conference and earned an at-large bid to advance to the first round of the playoffs, where they were defeated by Springfield last season. Crescent Valley is going to be good, multiple coaches told me. The Raiders return NAIA prospect [player_tooltip player_id='832588' first='Emily' last='Taunisila'] and junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='841858' first='Josie' last='Mansfield'], both starters. The team also adds potential impact freshman Abby Dobson, who was not on our 2029 Watchlist radar in September.

Up Next: Top 9-12 Teams in 5A
