Orange Park Classic: Standout Guard Play

There wasn't just one way to standout from the guard position at the Christmas Classic. Some filled it up from deep, others were play makes who created shot for teammates, and some by playing lock down defense. She can also get downhill and take it to the paint and score. Brant is a two-way player who impacts the defensive side of the ball as well. Her impact is primarily felt on the defensive end of he court. Longmire does a good job of applying pressure on the perimeter and also mixing it up on the inside against bigger players. Longmire posts stats in a lot of categories, including rebounds and blocked shots, but her impact is in her hustle and versatility on the floor. She is a player who embraces her role as the team's workhorse player. Her efforts didn't go unnoticed- she was a standout at the Orange Park Christmas Classic who did whatever it took to win. That's just another day at the office for Proffitt who is among the State's scoring leaders averaging nearly 30 points per game. Proffitt shoots threes from all over the court, and can also get to the rim and the free throw line to score. Berry is one of the best at getting out on the break and filling the lanes. Once she gets it in transition, she is usually automatic. She scores through physical contact and is savvy at getting the bucket and getting to the free-throw line. Andrews was a recent standout at the Battle on th Island and continued her stellar play at the Orange Park Christmas Classic. Andrews has the ability to control pace of the game and is a point guard who makes her teammates better. Andrews can also score from the point with her ability to shoot three and get to the rim. Andrews is the energizer who makes winning plays. Her efforts on the court in addition to her production and play making ability separates her from a lot of players.
