Houston got a steal in Alivia McCorkle. McCorkle keeps on proving that she is the real deal. She is putting up huge numbers each contest she competes in and she seems to get better when she has ample amounts of pressure throughout a contest. When you are about to play Bettendorf, you might talk about a few players in general but more-so than anything else - you have to game plan for McCorckle. Which is never easy because she is very good off the dribble. Whenever you have someone who is automatic off the bounce at scoring the ball, things become really challenging for the defense. It's the hardest things to guard within the game. My biggest question for McCorkle moving forward will be how she adapts to the D1 level as a main passer within their team's system. If she can do that, she will continue to thrive once on campus.

Fort Dodge is a group we have mainly covered because of their D2 committed post player but this time around we mention one of their best defenders in Malay Hollins. Hollins is someone that you need to note prior to competing against Fort Dodge. She plays calculated and strategic while always getting her hands on the ball in one way or another. She is someone that can defend the post against bigger defenders or she can primarily stick onto guards within their system, always being a pest. Hollins has a few more years to continue to competing at this Varsity level. Years she shouldn't take for granted but before you know it, blink and it'll be over.

I am liking what I've seen out of Spirit Lake up until this point in the season. [player_tooltip player_id='677843' first='Hayden' last='Kuhlmann'] has been flying all over the court, giving her maximum effort whenever she laces up her kicks. She is one of her team's top scorers and top defenders that they have on roster. She is always showing up in the stat sheet and on video whenever you watch this group. Spirit Lake is a tough group. They have a lot of pieces, that are interchangeable and that's going to fair well for them in a few weeks when they are playing for their Playoff lives.

The Kahl sisters are a duo, that are single handedly leading Lisbon High School in most of their positive statistical categories this season. The younger sister, Kyla Kahl, has stepped up for her Sophomore season to make play after play. K.K. is averaging 7 PPG, 3 RPG, 2.5 APG, and 2.6 SPG in her efforts. The only player that is averaging more than her in each category is her older sister, Kamryn. Whenever any opposing team wants to come to matchup against Lisbon, they circle these two sisters on the scouting report. The key to winning the game is attempting to stop them and then they need to work from there.

Central DeWitt is in a prime position to make it to the State Tournament in a few weeks if they take care of business once the Playoffs start. They are dominating most of their opponents at this time and that's mainly because of their guard play. Someone who has been doing their part is CG - [player_tooltip player_id='598490' first='Ava' last='Putman']. Putman has insane body control as she attacks down hill, she is quick and smart in the choices she makes coming down the floor, she can command others vocally to their spots like it's nothing, and she is always one of the first on the floor when a loose ball opportunity presents itself. The key to a lot of Central DeWitt's success so far this Winter is because of Putman's leadership. She is one of their top dawgs and that should continue until she graduates.
