Another game in the heated rivalry between North and South Forsyth took place on Friday night in front of a large and loud crowd and for the right to call themselves Region 8 AAAAAA Tournament Champions. These two teams don't care for another and that is pretty obvious, even though they all grew up playing together. That is what makes this rivalry as intense as was the game was last night, the third between the two teams this season. [player_tooltip player_id='991134' first='Carib' last='Morris'] and [player_tooltip player_id='476471' first='Gabbie' last='Gliatta'] went at the other team, and each other at times, all game long and put on a memorable showdown for everyone who was watching. To play in these games you cannot be afraid of contact and you better be in shape as both teams pushed the ball on the break relentlessly and the players were beating and banging on each other without a whistle for a large part of the game. These players did an excellent job supporting the stars on their team and standing out themselves.

This is the second game in a row where I have watched South Forsyth and come away very impressed with Austin's play. She is a Swiss Army knife, does a lot of things for team and doing them well. She is a very good athlete with good size and strength. She shoots the ball very well and is active on both ends of the floor. Late in the game she slashed in from the wing, picked up a rebound/loose ball and calmly knocked down an 8 foot shot when the game was very close. She played extremely well with Morris on offense assisting on several of her shots in the game with excellent passes coming from difficult angels. Austin plays very hard and plays the game with a lot of intelligence.

Hilton has improved her play every time I have seen South Forsyth this year. She has really stepped up scoring the ball and she did more of that on Friday. Hilton also did a nice job getting the ball to Morris where she could score. She whipped one pass quickly from half court to a cutting Morris right under the basket which took a lot of precision and skill. Quincey gave South Forsyth a big bucket late in the game after she went right, crossed over her defender at the elbow, and then blew by her and laid the ball up nicely with her left hand. Hilton made herself Ana available target with some nice backdoor cuts to the basket when her defender turned her head.

Kniceley is a really athletic guard who plays the game with a high IQ and a ton of unselfishness. She runs the show for South Forsyth to great effect getting the ball where it needs to go with few turnovers and plays with good quickness. South Forsyth loves to get out and run on the fast break where they score a lot of points and Avynn has a lot to do with that. She gets the ball out quick and in the pocket to open shooters and makes very good decisions with the ball in transition. Kniceley is also capable of making teams pay herself shooting the ball from behind the three point line.

Bryan drew the toughest assignment of the night guarding Morris who is/was averaging over 25 points per game and can get 40 points or more on any given night. Bryan did a good job staying with Morris a lot of the game and was in position to defend her but Morris makes shots only a few kids in Georgia in any class can. Offensively, Bryan impressed scoring from inside the three point line. Leah is a very good shooter from three, but in this game she showed there is more in her offensive arsenal that that. On a very nice play she drove the ball and scored on a nice finger roll lay-up after a very confident shot fake and drive from the elbow.

Kendall competes as hard as anyone I have seen all year. She plays a lot bigger than her size and is an exceptional rebounder for a guard on both ends of the court. It doesn't matter who North Forsyth is playing, Kendall gets in the paint, crashes the boards, and outworks other players for the ball. She usually gets a couple put backs a game just on effort and energy alone. Arnett is also very quick which is obvious as she is in constant movement and motion. She is very skilled and talented too and is a nightmare matchup for bigger fours to guard on the perimeter and smaller guards to deal with in the paint.

Emma Grace, who took over the starting point guard position late in the season, started the game on fire knocking down a three between the wing and corner on a pass from Gliatta on one play and grabbing a loose ball rebound, taking a dribble, coming to a jump stop and laying the ball up for two points with defenders on both sides on another. EG rebounds the ball on offense very well. Every game I have seen this season she sneaks into the paint and will grab the ball and get it up quickly for an easy put back multiple times.Turner, who is an elite catching and shooting the ball from three point range also hit a corner three late in the game for North Forsyth.
