Here are five Forwards within the Top 100 from this Update, that did well this past Winter season. These five are going to get interest while on the road this AAU season with their teams. They just need to play their cards right.

We saw several talented hoopers at the State Tournament a few weeks ago in DSM. One of the best Forwards that we saw was [player_tooltip player_id='686893' first='Cassidy' last='Danburg'] of Waukee NW. Danburg did her thing. She controlled the boards against other talented D1 prospects, she got her own in the scene of shot opportunities and buckets, she made the most of mismatches that were thrown her way, she defended early and late within possessions, and she never took her foot off the gas running down the court. Everyone who has seen Danburg compete knows that there is potential in her future on the hardwood. With her natural height, even for her position, she is going to be able to kill it over the next 4-5 years. She just has to find her future home and the rest will be history!

Cedar Rapids Jefferson put together some rememberable contests this past few months during their Winter season. Their force in the middle, leading the charge was PF - [player_tooltip player_id='642075' first='Lillie' last='Spicer']. Spicer isn't new to production. She has participated on the Varsity floor since she was a Freshman, putting up impactful stat lines on the blocks. Her mixture of strength and height helps her handle most matchups thrown her way. She can either go over the top of them if she is too small, she can go through them if she is bigger, or she can hit them with a counter move to get a different offensive look at the basket. We saw all of these things over the last few months for the J-Hawks as they took the floor. Spicer currently holds one D1 offer to UNI but if she puts together some good weekends this AAU season, who knows what could happen.

[player_tooltip player_id='777229' first='Goamar' last='Bilim'] is going to be a crucial piece to her [program_tooltip program_id='712617' first='Lady' last='Pure Prep'] AAU team this Spring at the Forward spot. Bilim has size and most important - length. She can recover defensively, even if she gets beat off the first step, she moves down the floor at an impressive pace with giant strides from rim-to-rim, and she holds her own in the rebounds department on both ends. Bilim had a nice Winter for DSM North. In this Update she moves up to the #33 spot out of the 2027 Class. A respectable position to be in before we start AAU ball this upcoming weekend.

We saw glimpses of [player_tooltip player_id='686900' first='Addie' last='Abens'] for DCG this season as they made their way to the 4A State Title game. Abens moved around in the middle and even popped out to the perimeter within some of her team's offensive sets. That speaks to Abens versatility. She can be used as a solid 4 as a SF or she can move to the 3 and stick on someone smaller or to the 5 to wall up against someone bigger. Whenever you have someone like that, their role expands because you can move them all over the place. As long as Abens continues to work on her weakness in the off-season, she should come back next Winter with vengeance on her mind as a Senior. Her presence was noticed this season and role should grow in the future.

There is a chance that [player_tooltip player_id='832208' first='Izzy' last='Gilbertson'] is POTY next season within her Mount Ayr team's conference because of her production and overall skill. Gilbertson has been putting up big numbers for years now. She is a mismatch to most opponents with her guard-like ability at 5'10. She has a respectable handle, good footwork, coordinated balance, and discipline. Those four things mix together to make a solid competitor, that is tough to contain with only one defender. That's what we have here. If opposing teams don't circle her on the scouting report coming into it, it's going to be a long night. Gilbertson is a multiple sport athlete so I'm not sure what she will end up doing in college but if she wants to play Basketball, she should have those options on the table.
