Doty is a player, like Kone, I first saw this past November at the Insider Exposure Thanksgiving tournament and was immediately impressed with her play. Doty plays fast and furious but under control and at her pace. She has excellent ball handling with great quickness and the ability to change direction with the ball in a flash. She is an excellent shooter and showed that in the game versus SLAAM-Wraten that I watched both from three point range and from the midrange. Doty appears to be in control at all times taking only timely and calculated risks with the ball minimizing her turnovers. She is crafty and smooth and plays with a lot of confidence, which she should with skills and talent she has.

Delanie adds a state championship to her résumé after helping Somerset Canyons capture the Class 3A title. Competing within a strong high school program loaded with multiple Division I-level prospects, she consistently made her presence felt on both ends of the floor. Doty is set to play with Duval Elite on the P24 circuit girls basketball this spring and summer which is one of the premier circuits in the country. She’ll have continued opportunities to elevate her stock for that reason. A smooth, fundamentally sound guard, she shoots it well with a quick release, rebounds effectively for her position, and creates disruption defensively with her ability to generate steals. With a strong feel for the game and continued production, she now holds six Division I offers and remains firmly on the rise.

Doty’s production from the perimeter was a major factor in Somerset’s success, but her defense was key as well. Doty plays aggressive defense on the ball and also plays the passing lanes well. She impacts the game at every level, which is why she is consistently recognized for post-tournament awards.

Delanie played a key role in the championship win for Somerset, finishing with 13 points and 4 rebounds on efficient shooting. She went 5-for-9 from the field and knocked down 3 of her 7 attempts from beyond the arc, hitting several timely shots that helped maintain Somerset’s control of the game. Her ability to space the floor forced the defense of Lake Highland Prep to extend, preventing them from collapsing too heavily on Alana and opening up the offense. Delanie’s shooting mechanics were impressive all game — a smooth stroke, clean form, and consistent rotation, even when shooting on the move. Her perimeter scoring and floor spacing were a major reason Somerset was able to secure the state championship.

Delanie Doty brought strong guard play with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, while knocking down two three-pointers. She played an important role in Somerset’s point-guard-by-committee backcourt, helping handle the ball and create offense while still contributing as a scorer. Doty showed a willingness to attack when opportunities appeared and did a solid job distributing the ball to teammates.
