The first live period of the grassroots season wrapped up around the country earlier today, and we will surely see prospects from America's Dairyland receiving collegiate offers from all levels of college basketball. Before I hit the sky from Love Airfield in Dallas, Texas, we will look at a few players who could garner attention from coaches at the next level. These kids may or may not earn scholarship offers in the coming days, but they are players who may have caught the eyes of coaches at the next level.

Watching Michalkiewicz in a new setting, with a different role, opened my eyes a bit to what she can do on the floor. The Neenah native had stretches where she was her team's entire offensive engine, and helped her 16U group overcome a 17ish point deficit to win their first 3SSB game of the grassroots season. She shot the ball at a high level and made shots in bunches when she found her groove.

The physical traits speak for themselves. Borcherding is a 6-6 post player with some touch and a motor on the defensive end. There is plenty of room for growth on both ends of the floor, but sometimes there are players you can't miss, physically and literally. We haven't had a player like her in Wisconsin for a few years, and she has the tools to elevate to another level with some development, which she showed over the last 12 months.

The Mustang was a player who seemed to find her groove late in the grassroots season last summer, and she's kept that momentum throughout the high school season. Ohman is an athletic guard who can play on or off the ball and be effective, and she's shown that she can handle a high-use role. From what it sounded like, she played well again in Hamilton this weekend. She is a player who could surprise coaches this spring and summer.

I hadn't seen Werfal in person from the end of the past grassroots season until my first weekend of AAU tournaments. Since I saw her again, I've been pleasantly surprised by her growth. Werfal has bought into her role with her [program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces'] group and has done a solid job of limiting aspects of her game that held her back in the past, which says a lot about who she is as a person and her mindset. Every time I've seen her this AAU season, I've liked her more than I did before.
