PGH MI State Showcase: Team 4 Evaluations

The Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Showcase featured a variety of 2027-2030 prospects who had the opportunity to demonstrate their talents during 3v3 and 5v5 games. My coverage focused primarily on Team 1 and Team 4. Here are some of the observations I made of prospects from Team 4!    Rayonna worked hard to move her feet quickly laterally to turn ball-handlers and kept her dribble alive, not forcing passes into traffic. She wasn't afraid to let it fly from three point distance and showed her range by draining a wing three at the PGH Michigan State Showcase.     Layla earned a trip to the free throw line and knocked down both shots from the line with confidence. She drove hard to the basket and had excellent balance during her free throws. Layla worked hard to secure rebounds on both ends of the court and was comfortable shooting from beyond the arc. She's a quick and determined guard who showed promise at the PGH Michigan State Showcase.     Naomi was a big-time breakout performer at the PGH Michigan State Showcase. That was our first time seeing her play and she couldn't have made a better first impression. Naomi pushed the ball up the court, fired passes in transition, and shot the ball with supreme confidence from three-point distance. She was deadly from beyond the arc off the dribble and the catch. Naomi ripped the ball away on the defensive end, attacked with a burst off the dribble to cause fouls, and kicked passes out to open shooters off of dribble penetration. She ripped the nets with threes from spots all over the court and turned in a complete performance.     KC gave her team a spark on the offensive end. She penetrated off the dribble and made good kickout passes to shooters on the perimeter. KC knocked down a mid-range jumper off the bounce, and added two smooth triples from the wing. Her versatility was impactful to the team during the PGH Michigan State Showcase.     Vanessa showed her shooters touch throughout the day and one of her best finishes happened when she drove hard into the paint, pivoted to get the scoring angle, and dropped in a floater off two feet straight through the net. Vanessa swished a three pointer up top, used a great step-through to score in traffic with her left, and converted tough, reach around layup by putting a ton of English on the ball. Vanessa was aggressive on defense and had a great all-around day at the PGH Michigan State Showcase.     Selina was a notable newcomer and breakout player who had me thinking "who is that girl" during the PGH Michigan State Showcase. During drills, Selina drove by defenders to score layups and demonstrated great footwork inside, scoring with effective step-throughs. She moved her feet extremely well and used her length to force missed shots without fouling. In the games, Selina sprinted in and outworked opponents to secure rebounds on both ends. She attacked off the dribble to cause fouls and scored contested layups. Selina sealed defenders in the paint with a strong stance, caught entry passes with good hands, scored an impressive up-and-under layup, and knocked down many free throws with confidence at the line.     Kira caught an entry pass, turned, and beat the help side defender to the basket for a two foot finish. She picked off a pass in transition, used an effective pivot to score over a defender inside, and created space with a shifty behind-the-back snap dribble. Kira has the length, mobility, two-way effort, and versatility to play multiple positions at the next level. She had a solid showing at the PGH Michigan State Showcase.     Kaycee created offense from defense when she anticipated a pass, deflected the ball, secured the steal, and took it all the way for a breakaway bucket. Kaycee crashed the boards to secure offensive rebounds, scored another layup with touch, and played hard on both ends at the PGH Michigan State Showcase.     Adrian showed off her speed right away during drills. She used a quick rip move to drive by a defender for a left-handed bucket and created space with good pocket dribbles. Adrian used shifty double-crossover moves to keep defenders off balance and surveyed the scene without forcing the issue. Adrian continued to facilitate and control the ball effectively during games. She sprinted back in transition to intercept a pass on the defensive end, split defenders with a speedy drive-by, and made a great dump-off pass after attacking down the baseline. Adrian gets downhill and had a solid showing at the PGH Michigan State Showcase.
