Players to Watch from District Heights' The Takeover

<p>The players listed have been dominant at the grassroots level but are still finding their way within the high school game with some on a new AAU team this season, thy're trying to earn their playing time by showcasing their talents. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fairfax Stars:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Skye is in the sweet spot of playing the five at the grassroots level now transitioning to the small forward role as the high school game comes with taller opponents. She has a very nice mid range touch that can be very effective when given the chance. Her inside out game became dominant during her Saturday game as she helped lead the run where she started on the block with her patented spin move while also bringing down important rebounds. Look for Skye to hone in on her mid range game this summer to take that sophomore leap in the winter.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Rhyan is a below the radar player who already has a collegiate frame and has shown signs of a multi level scorer. She prefers to start behind the arc where she has a descent long ball that is shot with confidence. Defensively, she showed determination to push her opponent off the block to take them out their comfort zone. Rhyan is playing up with the 16's which the game is faster and more physical. Look for Rhyan to find her way soon to become a nice stretch five.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Team Museum:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Neveah is a good spark of energy off the bench. Her two-way game can be played in multiple ways. She is capable of giving good minutes as the point guard but is best on the wing as she is a natural scorer with a quick first step. Leave her open and she is good for going 40 percent behind the arc. Her energy also spills over on the defensive end as her speed and sliding feet can keep up with most backcourts.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Destinee has a nice outside shot but can also use her frame to get downhill if the play breaks down. She is physical on defense and can guard positions 1-3 in the open court. Her fierceness stands out on the defensive end where she shows a passion of defending the ball.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">UBUNTU:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Skylar, a non-committed senior has the most upside as she stands at a towering 6'6". She can effectively change the game without touching the ball within the offense. Saturday's game, she recorded six blocks with another four contested shots that had her opponent(s) second guessing their decision to drive. She is quiet but plays a big role on the court and can help any D2 college program next winter.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Team Durant:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Laniyah is a true lanlord of the paint. Her strength and size allow her to command and win the rebound game on both ends of the court. Offensively, she a more traditional post game with quick feet on the block with her back to the basket. Defensively, she will have her defenders thinking twice as her physical presence can be bullish.</p>
