When a kid plays and doesn't look at the score, that's what I like to see the most. They could be down by 20 or up by 15, but their style of play is still the same. As a scout, I am looking for someone who is playing with a lot of grit. They have a lot of fight. I can see the decision they are trying to make (even if it doesn't convert) and respect what they are doing. Not everyone is going to be a Power 4 kid, but there are plenty of other opportunities in other D1 conferences and at other levels for our kids in Tennessee to play. What I have seen from our young ladies isn't just the fight, but a keen understanding of the game and how to be effective.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As I went from court to court, Tennessee clubs stacked up pretty well against girls from other states. Maybe it was how we carried ourselves. The determination of our kids was playing with. Not even trying to be biased, but it was almost like we brought a certain mentality to the game that couldn't be matched. Not all games went Tennessee's way; however, I would say it was a dogfight no matter what. A combo guard that gets after it on both ends of the floor. On defense is plays with such a motor. Active hands, active feet, she causes chaos that creates turnovers. Offensively, she makes plays. Off the dribble, catch and shoot, being in position to rebound, she's going to find a way to put the ball in the net. An exciting prospect that just hoops. A knockdown threat from multiple spots on the floor, her teammates fed her hot hand, and she delivered. Leading her club, she had an impressive tournament run capped by stellar play. Playing with such poise, she delivered time and time again, no matter what the opponent threw at her. Knockdown shooter who is hard to stop. Given any space on the floor, she is going to dial it up and scorch the nets consistently. Playing with such composure, she was one of the key ingredients for her team's success this past weekend. This young lady is talented. Playing with a fearless mentality, she brings both a solid scoring threat and a strong defensive presence to the table. A kid who knows how to utilize her body to get to favorable positions on the floor. Yes, she can score from all 3 levels, but it was the way she did it that was impressive. Similar to an NBA player, she was delivering blows to a defender, putting them on their heels as she definitely exploited the mid-range and around the rim. She was solid on the defensive end and contributed on the boards. A solid two-way player, she has a knack for being around the ball and making a difference. Can score from all 3 levels, dishes the rock to teammates who have an advantage, keeps possessions alive; she is a heady ballplayer who knows how to maximize herself on each possession. Defensively, she is going to get steals/deflections, contribute on the boards, and be in a position to make it hard for offenses to operate. She's a kid who plays with a lot of grit.
