All City Series: Jackson Area Prospects

Whether it be in an AAU setting, a high school game, a pickup game, or at team camps, the opportunity to assess how one does their work has always intrigued me. When you first discover someone, of course, they've done something to pique your interest. Then, as you research them a little more, you go on this deep dive of trying to find even more information about them. The more you look for information on that prospect, the more you start to see their game in a fuller picture.    In the city of Jackson, talent is growing. Yes, more people (kids) are moving to the area because different businesses and industries are moving in. With that group comes a spike in talent. Right now, we are just starting to see the beginning. For some time now, USJ and Jackson Southside have made their runs and are still in a dominant window. Other schools around the area have had their success as well. Huntingdon has been on the map, as have others. My point is this: the city is growing, and we can't sleep on the talent currently on stage and what is about to take place.   This is a 3-part article covering some of the top prospects in the Jackson area.    One of the top prospects in the country who is rewriting the history books. Athletic and versatile, this young lady can do all things. High basketball IQ, this kid can exploit a defense from every level. Can work around the low blocks with her back to the basketball. Score in transition, utilizing various counter moves to get to her spot. Elevating and playing above the competition as she dominates the mid-range. Her defense is nice as well, as she gets steals and blocks shots. Doesn't matter what stage she is on, from USA trials travel ball to high school, she plays the game at a high level. This champion will land at a top college of her choosing. Until then, look for her to try to add more good basketballs to her school's trophy case.     Jumped onto the high school scene, showcasing her talent and showing everyone that she is a high-level player. Bringing her lunchpail and hard hat to every completion, she got after it, dominating the low post area on both ends of the floor. Scoring, rebounding, blocking shots, she did whatever it took to win games. With her hard work came accolades and team success, culminating in wins. Look for her to continue growing and to be a problem for many years. Very talented ballplayer who schools will definitely be interested in.     Athletic point guard who can command an offense. Utilizing her speed and quickness, she can knock down shots from various spots on the floor. She creates problems and keeps a defense on her heels, no matter where she is on the floor. A downhill threat that can get to the basket, she can also stop and pop from range. Last year, she finished as a Miss Tennessee candidate, and I guarantee she will have similar success in her final year as well. Her recruitment is on the upswing as more schools are seeing this special talent. Look for her to have an astonishing senior year and be amongst the top kids in the state in her class.     A workhorse. Tough athletic kid who is a solid two-way player. Offensively, she can be aggressive and get downhill finishing through contact. She has range in her game, knocking down 3s at a high clip. She is going to lock up on the defensive end, getting steals that lead to transition buckets. Anytime this young lady is on the floor, she is a terror, making it hard for the opposition. A leading catalyst for her club, look for her to be the X factor for her team's success.     A kid who plays the game the right way. Doesn't matter what it is, she is going to get after it, giving it her all. Can score from all 3 levels, thread the needle as she facilitates to the hot hand, rebound the basketball, and defend. She is a selfless ballplayer looking to make an impact at anything and everything she does. Look for her to attract the eyes of college coaches as she has the size and speed to do a multitude of things. A kid who is truly on the upswing.     Talented athlete who is an absolute dog. A solid two-way player who is going to give opponents fits. From knocking down the 3 ball to attack the paint to finish at the rim or dish it, she is a problem child. Her defense, too, is a big part of her makeup. Utilizing her speed and quickness, she's going to strike and get steals or jump a passing lane that leads to a bucket going the other way. Always in the lab working on her game, she's going to spearhead a JSS squad looking to go deep into state contention. Keep tabs on this special talent. An electric kid who brings it nightly.     A standout kid who can scorch the bottom of the net in multiple ways. Attacking off the bounce, exploiting the mid-range, launching it from deep, she is a 3-level scoring threat from anywhere on the floor. She's a bucket and is hard to slow down. Playing with such confidence, she will showcase her talent and lead her club by any means necessary. Her scoring is always there, but don't sleep on her defense as well. This kid has an all-around game and is truly a player. Look for her to continue to grow and be a problem for opponents.     A prospect with tremendous upside. A star in the making, this playmaker gets buckets and plays with such confidence. One who can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor, she is effective and efficient as they come. Her specialty is stroking it from 3, but don't sleep on her ability to attack. She gets buckets. Already eclipsing the 1000 mark in her freshman year. On the defensive end, she will contribute by getting steals and rebounds. This kid is an all-around player who is going to cause havoc for many years to come. Look for her to be one of the top prospects in her class, with coaches definitely on her. High-caliber kid who will reach many milestones throughout her high school career.
