Brooks' Notebook: Live Notes From Nike TOC - Day One

Today was Day One of Nike TOC & EYBL Nationals in Chicago. Throughout the day we had the chance to scout and evaluate almost 20 different programs from across the Country. Below, we highlight some of those individuals that stood out with the live notes that I took throughout the day.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    "Lightning fast SG with a soft touch, balanced footwork, and a deep offensive bag. Likes to shoot in open spaces in the midrange or from deep whenever she has the opportunity. Might be listed as a SG and be an able scoring threat but she can also bring the rock down the floor as your PG, if need be. One of the best players on the 15U Boo Williams EYBL team that we have seen throughout today."     "Frazell is playing her role to a T today for her AIA EYBL 17U program. Fraz is the only Iowa native prospect on this 17U team. Today she has been hitting her shots from deep off the catch, she is not afraid to drive into the defense to get her team a better look offensively, and she can D up on multiple levels on that side of the floor. All in all, today proved to me more than ever that Frazell will excel at Drake. She can fit whichever role she is given as the 2, 3, or 4, and I only expect her to get better with experience."     "An able attacker of the rim. Odom loves to get down hill in a hurry while attacking, usually shooting an attempt right next to the basket because no one can get in her work and if they do, it's usually turns into a foul and some free throw attempts. She can be your PG coming down the court or she demonstrated that she can attack from the outside on the Wing or in the Corner, if someone else rebounded and then went to push in transition."     "Floor General. That is how I would describe Jazlyn Rhodes of AIA 17U EYBL. Rhodes is a feisty lefty, that loves to consistently attack the defense off the bounce. She isn't afraid to let it go from behind the three point line either but it's definitely not her main objective when she is running the offense. This seems to me to the player for this group to get behind when the clock is dwindling down. We haven't seen that situation before but if it were to happen during bracket play over the next few days, I could see Rhodes putting her head down and going to work as their player to look too."     "Youngblood is intriguing to watch. A fast guard, that moves off the ball more than anything with the crew that she is playing with. When she does catch, she is a viable option for her group to be a scoring threat or to be a creator with her passing. Her lengthy reach and was she understands the game is more impressive than most at this game and that's shown up in their first game of EYBL play today against Missouri Phenom 15U EYBL."     "Kuhn, now competing with Mokan Elite EYBL, was her normal self today by going to work on both ends of the floor as an offensive juggernaut and as a defensive stopper. Whenever Mokan needed a big play, Kuhn was there for the group and that type of production was noteworthy to anyone that might have been paying attention as a recruiter or evaluator."     "Questions were answered today about [player_tooltip player_id='920716' first='Bentley' last='Dill']. Dill stood out as one of her EYBL team's top players throughout Day One of Nike EYBL Nationals today from the SG position. She scored in the boatload, she made the "right" play each time down the floor, and she did a great job producing while not having the ball in her possession with her free movement off of down screens and within transition. Anyone who wanted multiple programs compete today on the EYBL circuit saw some fun matchups and some standout performances. Today was one of those performances as a whole."     "Baldwin was as top producer today for her Missouri Phenom - Iowa 17U team in Chi-town. She finished with 15 points, along with a few other positive statistics from the SF position within this specific contest. This is someone with potential to compete at the next level following her Senior season at Iowa City West. If she continues to shoot the ball efficiently like she did today, she is going to be committed somewhere near by before you know it."
