Youngblood should step into a starting role after serving as a key reserve during her freshman campaign. Among Virginia’s top 2029 prospects, she is a big guard who uses her size effectively. Moreover, her slashing ability allows her to attack the basket and finish through traffic.

Youngblood can also play and defend the point guard, shooting guard, and wing positions. That versatility gives the Crusaders flexibility and positions her as a key contributor on a deep roster.

Entering her first season as the starting point guard, Youngblood earned her opportunity through defense and energy. Last season, she emerged as a defensive specialist and offensive sparkplug. Now, Youngblood has the keys to Catholic’s offense. Her length and athleticism create constant problems for opposing guards. Additionally, she disrupts post entries and applies pressure against ball handlers. Offensively, she plays with impressive awareness and makes intelligent decisions. She can create easy opportunities for teammates or finish plays herself. Therefore, she should transition smoothly into her expanded role.

Sydney received a Division I offer from JMU last week and has spent the summer visiting major programs including NC State, Duke, UNC, and Wake Forest. She still has a few years of high school basketball ahead of her, giving her plenty of time to continue building an already impressive recruitment. Sydney’s poise with the ball stands out, as she rarely allows defensive pressure to speed her up or knock her off her game.

Youngblood earned meaningful minutes as a freshman on a talented Catholic roster featuring several established players. However, her value goes well beyond simply contributing to a deep team.

Defensively, Youngblood has the length, quickness, and athleticism to become a matchup problem. She can defend guards and wings while using her length to disrupt passing lanes. Additionally, her speed allows her to pressure the ball and recover when beaten.

Offensively, Youngblood is capable of scoring at all three levels. She can also facilitate, run the offense, and make plays within a fast-paced system.

Most importantly, Youngblood has already shown she can impact games without needing to dominate the basketball. With an expanded role ahead, her production should continue matching her versatility.

That combination makes Youngblood one of the most complete players in Hampton Roads’ 2029 class.

Youngblood is a true floor general who controls the pace of the game and understands what’s happening around her. She keeps the offense organized, uses her quick, shifty handles to create advantages, and makes great reads, whether it’s finding a teammate for an easy bucket, pushing the fast break, or attacking the rim herself. She can also knock down the three and score in transition.

After watching Sydney several times this year it’s easy to see how much her overall game continues to grow. She scores in tight spaces, creates for her teammates and pushes the pace in transition. Her quick hands at the top of the key also generate steals that quickly turn into offense for Boo Williams.

“Youngblood is intriguing to watch. A fast guard, that moves off the ball more than anything with the crew that she is playing with. When she does catch, she is a viable option for her group to be a scoring threat or to be a creator with her passing. Her lengthy reach and was she understands the game is more impressive than most at this game and that’s shown up in their first game of EYBL play today against Missouri Phenom 15U EYBL.”

Youngblood controls the pace of the game with an advanced feel as the point, blending creativity, poise, and decision-making. She broke down defenses in transition, finishing through traffic, creating looks for teammates, and delivering pinpoint passes after drawing defenders. With her elite ball handling, ability to change speeds, and composure against contact, she proved she can create scoring opportunities for both herself and everyone around her.

Sydney has a nice floater that allows her to score over taller defenders in the paint. She elevates well around the rim and finishes with good touch, while also making plays on the defensive end with active hands that create turnovers.

Expected to step into a starting role, Youngblood earned valuable minutes as the first guard off the bench. Additionally, she established herself as a reliable perimeter defender. With her length, speed, and agility, she projects naturally as a shooting guard. However, her point guard skills remain an important part of her game. As she continues to develop physically, her overall impact should continue to grow.

Furthermore, Youngblood can create offense both on and off the ball. Meanwhile, her consistent perimeter shooting stretches opposing defenses. As a result, she fits seamlessly within Catholic’s explosive offensive system. Additionally, her versatility allows her to impact the game in multiple ways. Consequently, she should be a valuable weapon throughout her sophomore season.
