First Coast Talent Shifting the Recruiting Landscape

The NCAA live period and even weeks leading up to it were important stretches on the recruiting period, and several First Coast standouts made some noise over that period. Building on strong performances during the closing weeks of June, a number of First Coast prospects carried that momentum into the opening week of the July live period, turning heads with college coaches from every level. One thing that became apparent is that numerous prospects from the First Coast are making waves on the recruiting landscape - commitments, offers, interest, and plans to see many in the next few weeks. This could be a sign that the recruits on the First Coast are tipping the recruiting scale in the direction of North Florida.    [player_tooltip player_id='708143' first='Kendall' last='Proffitt'] has always shot the ball at an elite level, but now she has added a lot more to her game than just a deadly three point shot. Proffitt has the ability to get to the rim and finish with creativity. She has added shiftiness to her game, allowing her to blow by defenders, pull up in the midrange, and keep defenders off balance. Proffitt has received multiple offers and has become arguably the top prospect on the First Coast.     The catch and shoot game has been super impressive for [player_tooltip player_id='823463' first='Presley' last='Norman'] all summer long. She shot the cover off the ball at various camps, including 10 threes at the UNF team camp. At the FABC showcase, Norman was super efficient at the the FABC showcase in Gainesville. She left there strengthening her reputation as one of the state's top shooters. In one of her games during the recent live period Norman knocked down 4 threes pointer in front of college coaches, and recently posted an offer to Iona.     [player_tooltip player_id='738971' first='Gabi' last='Iturralde'] recently garnered an offer from Flagler College and that's likely the first of many. Iturralde has really added versatility to her game- from playing several positions on the court (point guard and shooting guard) to impacting the game in different roles. She has shown that she can mold her game to various styles of play. She can attack off the dribble, catch and shoot, and create for herself and for teammates. Iturralde also impacts the game on the defensive side of the ball, especially on the back end when pressing the opponent. She comes up with a lot of steals playing in the passing lanes and baiting the opponent into errant passes. Iturralde has earned a lot of interest and a recent college offer. The Final weekend could be pivotal for the versatile guard with the rising stock.     [player_tooltip player_id='708144' first='Jocelyn' last='Hoffmann'] continues to solidify herself as one of the top players on the First Coast. Hoffmann skillset is second to none. She brings ball handling, shooting, attacking the rim, IQ, and leadership to the floor every single time and always stands out. The young guard has received numerous offers and still has yet to reach her ceiling.     The pressure that [player_tooltip player_id='515064' first='Kathleen' last='Crawley'] can put on a defense has been one of her biggest assets over the last few months and college coaches have been taken notice. Crawley is as versatile as any forward and may have the best midrange game in the area, and that's coming from a forward who always hovers around the 40 percent from behind the three point line. Crawley's recruitment has reached new heights and with takes the reputation of First Coast recruiting to a different level.     [player_tooltip player_id='400811' first='Elle' last='Deegan'] has really opened up her game and has shown an ability to shoot of the dribble and off the catch. In either case, she has shown the ability to get off her shot with a quick release and minimal space between she and the defender. Deegan has solidified herself as one of the top shooters on the First Coast and arguably has the smoothest release in the State. Deegan's stock is on the rise as she has demonstrated that she is a playmaking guard's best friend. This Final Live period of the year could be pivotal for the sharp shooting lefty.     [player_tooltip player_id='1118790' first='Kamya' last='Leroy'] received an offer just before the live period started and coaches were impressed with her athleticism and ability to run the floor, shoot in the midrange, and knock down the J in the half court set. Leroy's stock could rise after her strong June. She has speed, versatility, and a skillset as good as some of the top prospects in the State. A few more stacked and consistent performances could position Leroy as one of the top sleepers on the First Coast.
