The featured image is of [player_tooltip player_id='1278862' first='Hadley' last='Cooper'] (2029) from Floyd Central High School.

Friday marked the beginning of the second "live" period in July. Grassroots teams from all over the state have traveled to Louisville, Chicago, and Hamilton (OH), among other places, to give it one last go before the 2026 season concludes and school begins in August. Playing a little bit of catchup after a busy couple of days, below is a look at some 2029s and 2030s who stood out in Friday's action in Louisville at the Select Summer Championships.

.

Hadley was out with what looked like an injury when I saw her 17U Prospects team play a couple of weeks ago. Friday, though, she was back and locked in. She has such a veteran presence, despite being just a Freshman, she doesn't ever seem to get rattled, she can create offense for herself and teammates, and she can really shoot it from the perimeter. I think over time, as she finishes growing, if she can get herself just a little more explosive, look for her to be an almost problematic multilevel scorer who can also be a traditional point guard, while also being one of 2029s top competitors.

This was my first opportunity to see Kyla in action, and she is very intriguing. She has noticeable talent and can run, jump, and change directions very well. Early in the game I saw, she was quick to get to the rim to finish, and she was very active at the defensive end of the floor. Later in that game, she played more on the ball and ran a truer point guard position. She still has plenty of time to continue her skill development, but as she tightens her all-around skillset and pairs it with her track type of athleticism, she could be a problem for Red Devil opponents in the future.

Azaria was another fun watch Friday afternoon. She had a good Freshman year for Vincennes Lincoln, but she has since transferred to nearby South Knox. She is a long, wiry, water-bug type of point guard. She does a really nice job of defending the ball, getting over/through ball screens, and containing her matchup. Offensively, she is solid with both hands, she can make an open jumper, but she's really good at turning the corner, getting inside the defense, and scoring it herself or finding open teammates. I'll be curious to see how she fits with [player_tooltip player_id='756236' first='Kendal' last='Hill'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1275573' first='Grace' last='Detweiler'] (both 2027s) at South Knox.

Chatard has had a recent run of solidly skilled, tough-nosed, hard-working kids for the last decade or so, and Gia fits that mold well. She has an already strong, athletic frame, she plays with a nice motor, she's willing to be physical inside, but she also shows some skill around the perimeter. She does a lot of work inside the paint right now, and that looks like her comfort zone, but she handled it fine, and she has a nice-looking shot outside. Athletically, I can definitely see her making a transition to being more of a wing prospect, but I'll be curious to see how the Lady Trojans use her.

Between the combination of transfers and incoming Freshmen, Cathedral looks like they are going to have a lot of size these next couple of years. Delilah has an already-strong frame, and she absolutely battles on the inside for rebounds and defensively. But offensively, she showed a lot more than that on Friday. She caught the ball to shoot, and while I didn't see her actually shoot a 3-pointer, she did look to drive it almost immediately and she got to the line pretty easily. She absorbs contact well, and I think as she continues to expand her game, she could be a tough inside-out matchup.

Collyns is another bigger, stronger young prospect. She plays with a good motor and seems to get up and down the floor with effort. While I don't know that she'll be a true post in the long-term, right now she can move peers around inside and win position at either end of the floor. She does have solid hands and footwork, but she'll need to understand angles better and how to absorb contact when finishing against longer/taller defenders. What was encouraging is that she is reasonably comfortable around the perimeter, so I think that part of her game could develop quickly.

Lydia was probably my favorite new-to-me name to watch Friday afternoon. She has an athletic frame, lower body strength, and she moves around the floor well in most directions. She handled the ball some in transition, she was aggressive off the bounce in the halfcourt, and she was able to finish with either hand inside. Because of her size and strength at her age, she has been utilized inside at times, but from what I was able to see, I think the wing is where she belongs, and now. She played with a nice motor, and I was impressed with her defensive versatility as well.
