IBCA Charlie Hughes Girls Basketball Showcase Standouts

The 2026 IBCA Charlie Hughes Girls Basketball Showcase once again proved why it is one of the premier summer evaluation events in the state of Indiana. Held on June 19-20, the showcase featured hundreds of talented players from every corner of the state, providing college coaches, scouts, and media members an outstanding opportunity to evaluate prospects in a competitive environment before the start of the high school season. With players from multiple graduating classes taking the floor, the event showcased Indiana's depth of talent and allowed many athletes to demonstrate their continued development against high-level competition.   Throughout the two-day event, numerous players stood out for different reasons. Some displayed their ability to score at all three levels, while others impacted the game with their defensive intensity, rebounding, playmaking, leadership, or basketball IQ. The showcase also gave several under-the-radar prospects an opportunity to elevate their recruitment by performing well in front of college coaches from all levels. Events like Charlie Hughes continue to play an important role in the recruiting process, allowing players to compete outside of the traditional high school season and gain valuable exposure.   This article highlights several players who caught my attention during the showcase based on my in-person evaluations. Due to scheduling, I was only able to scout the games played at Fishers High School and was not able to attend or evaluate the players competing at the Hamilton Southeastern High School site. As a result, the players featured in this article are solely from the Fishers location and are not intended to represent every standout performer from the entire showcase.   The following evaluations are based on each player's performance during the event and focus on the skills, intangibles, and overall impact they displayed on the court. Whether they were established Division I prospects or emerging recruits beginning to make a name for themselves, each player listed below made the most of the opportunity and left a strong impression during the 2026 IBCA Charlie Hughes Girls Basketball Showcase.    From the first time I watched her play to now, she has continued to show growth and maturity in her game. She plays with tremendous poise, confidence, and a high basketball IQ, making sound decisions while staying under control in every situation.   Coming off the bench for a fast-paced, talented, and well-balanced North Central team, Madisyn embraced her role as the primary ball handler and floor general. She did an excellent job of running the offense, keeping her teammates organized, and making the right reads in transition and the half court. She consistently played with composure, never forcing the action, and demonstrated a strong understanding of pace and game management.   When scoring opportunities presented themselves, Madisyn was ready to capitalize. She remained aggressive without sacrificing efficiency, attacking when the defense gave her openings and making smart decisions with the basketball. Her ability to balance facilitating for her teammates while also looking to score makes her an effective lead guard. Combined with her feel for the game and steady presence on the floor, she continues to establish herself as a player capable of making a positive impact whenever her number is called.     Every time I watch Heavynne play, she continues to impress me with her ability to handle the basketball and attack the basket. She is a quick, confident guard who does a great job creating off the dribble and putting constant pressure on the defense. Her ability to change speeds and finish through traffic makes her a tough matchup.   Heavynne is a key part of the young core that Lawrence North brought into the program last season. Her development and impact were on full display, helping show why the Wildcats are expected to be one of the top teams in the MIC this upcoming season. As she continues to expand her offensive game, she has the potential to become an even bigger difference-maker for Lawrence North.     [player_tooltip player_id='896317' first='Taylee' last='Fisher'] is a player who brings relentless energy every time she steps on the floor. She plays with a high motor on both ends of the court, consistently making hustle plays and competing on every possession. Whether she's defending, crashing the boards, or creating opportunities offensively, her effort and toughness stand out throughout the game.   Offensively, Taylee plays with confidence and doesn't hesitate to make plays when the opportunity presents itself. Defensively, she applies pressure, stays active, and gives opponents very little room to get comfortable. Her willingness to do the little things that don't always show up in the box score makes her a valuable piece for her team.   Her hard work has already started to be recognized, as she recently picked up her first collegiate offer from Franklin College. With her work ethic, competitiveness, and continued development, Taylee is a player whose recruitment is heading in the right direction and one that college coaches should continue to follow.     [player_tooltip player_id='990044' first='Riley' last='Schellhammer'] continues to prove why she is one of the premier guards in Indiana and a Villanova commit. She plays with a high level of poise, confidence, and competitiveness, consistently controlling the pace of the game and making winning plays on both ends of the floor. Her ability to score, facilitate, and defend at a high level makes her a constant problem for opposing teams.   Beyond her individual impact, Riley has played a major role in elevating her program and helping raise the overall standard of the women's basketball program. Alongside her younger sister Britt, the Schellhammer presence has brought added leadership, toughness, and production that has helped push the team forward in big moments.   As she prepares for the next level at Villanova, Riley remains a steady, high-level guard who continues to impact winning and set the tone for her team.     [player_tooltip player_id='751096' first='Lily' last='Burns'] is a senior wing who brings experience, versatility, and steady production to her team. She has continued to develop her all-around game and currently holds multiple collegiate offers, reflecting the impact she's made throughout her high school career.   This season, Lily is positioned to take on a bigger leadership role as her team looks to put together another strong and winnable campaign. One of the biggest improvements in her game has been her shot selection, showing more patience, confidence, and efficiency within the offense. She has done a better job of picking her spots and taking high-percentage looks while still remaining aggressive when needed.   With her experience, improved decision-making, and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor, Lily will be an important piece for her team's success this season as she continues to attract college attention.     [player_tooltip player_id='989989' first='Lila' last='Busenbark'] has continued to show steady growth in her game, taking clear steps forward in both confidence and overall production. She has elevated her level of play and, as a result, has helped elevate the competitiveness and consistency of her team on both ends of the floor.   She plays with a better understanding of the game and has become more intentional with her decision-making. Offensively, Lila is making stronger reads, moving the ball effectively, and taking advantage of scoring opportunities when they present themselves. Defensively, she competes with effort and focus, helping her team stay engaged and organized possessions by possession.   What stands out most is her willingness to embrace her role and continue improving within it. That mindset has translated into more impact on the floor and greater trust from her coaching staff in key moments. As she continues to develop, Lila's upward trend is an important part of her team's overall growth and success this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='756250' first='Hallie' last='Schwieterman'] is a senior guard who provides a strong scoring presence for her team, showing the ability to both knock down shots from the perimeter and get downhill to the basket. She plays with confidence and is effective in creating her own offense, whether spotting up or attacking off the dribble.   Her shooting ability forces defenses to stay honest, and when closeouts are aggressive, she has the quickness and control to get to the rim and finish. Hallie's offensive versatility makes her a consistent threat and a key piece in her team's scoring production.   As a senior, she continues to elevate her game and take on a leadership role. With her production and continued development, she is positioning herself as a strong candidate for recognition among Indiana's top seniors, including potential Indiana All-Star consideration heading into the next season.     [player_tooltip player_id='743639' first='Emily' last='Spainhour'] is a senior forward who brings a steady presence and strong work ethic to the New Albany girls basketball program. She continues to focus on helping elevate the program through her effort, leadership, and commitment on both ends of the floor.   She had a productive day showing growth in her overall game, with noticeable improvement in her confidence and execution. Emily competed well around the basket, worked to finish through contact, and made her presence felt in the paint. Her willingness to stay engaged and continue developing has been a positive sign for her continued progress.   As she steps into her final season, Emily's consistency and leadership will be important as New Albany looks to build momentum and compete at a higher level. Her continued improvement adds value to her role and strengthens the foundation of the program moving forward.
