The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, with many clubs attending more than one tournament. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.

After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 191 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Taking data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes into consideration, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, my expectations moving forward are that there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class.
Naomi made a huge splash at the Michigan State Showcase, delivering an All-Showcase First Team performance. Her three point accuracy off the catch and the dribble, shiftiness, elusive ball-handling, passing vision, and quickness to get through gaps for layups makes her a dynamic point guard. Naomi creates for herself and others. She looks ready to have a breakout sophomore season at Northville.

Mia played a lead role for Dearborn as a freshman and she's going to be even better as a sophomore. She has the qualities you want in a point guard. Mia pursues rebounds, creates separation with her shifty dribble combinations, handles the ball with poise, delivers passes to open teammates with touch, applies pressure on the defensive end, attacks gaps with a burst to score layups with either hand, and knocks down open threes with confidence on the perimeter.

Mallory will be an important member of the Birmingham Groves backcourt again this winter. She has length, instincts, athleticism, and a fundamental skill set that give her a high ceiling at the lead guard spot. Mallory works hard to secure rebounds, uses her length and anticipation to cause turnovers on the defensive end, has the dribble burst needed to penetrate gaps, and finishes with good touch around the basket. Mallory draws defenders and distributes passes effectively when she gets to the second and third level to create wide open looks for others. She's a dangerous shooter to leave open on the perimeter.

Avery made a statement at the Zero Star Showcase. She was a Top Performer and perhaps the most aggressive player on the court. Avery has a tenacity and fierce competitiveness that you love to see in the backcourt. She leaps up to block shots and moves quickly laterally to stop dribble penetration. Avery has the ball on a string and accelerates with an explosive burst on her drives to the basket. She's a threat from beyond the arc and has outstanding touch on her finishes, making her very effective at scoring from difficult angles in the paint. Avery looks like the best U.P. prospect in her class and has the potential to keep climbing the list.

Vanessa separated herself at [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] practice and turned in a strong performance at the Michigan State Showcase. She has a compact build that gives her the strength to absorb contact and finish effectively on drives to the basket. Vanessa has excellent scoring touch in the paint and uses effective footwork to create scoring angles in traffic. She's a sharpshooter from beyond the arc and makes teams pay when they give her space. Vanessa handles the ball confidently with both hands and sees the floor. She's a dynamic point guard in this class ready for a monster sophomore season.

Sienna has the ball-handling control, twitchiness, explosive driving ability, strength to finish through contact, and confidence from three that translates to the higher levels at the point guard spot. She's a fierce competitor and just as aggressive on the defensive end. Sienna sprints to block shots on the perimeter, gets her quick hands involved to create steals, and pushes the ball coast to coast in top gear for fast break buckets. She has another gear and elevates high off the ground to score against long defenders in the paint. Sienna was a Top Performer on the PGH Circuit with MBA UAA 15U and impressed again at CMU Team Camp.
