Class of 2029: The Ascension

Before we get to that class, we have to open up our eyes to some 29s. The 26s are gone, and with that comes a new wave of kids who will be stepping it up. We have highlighted some 27s and 28s, but the 29s- these girls are ready to step into a bigger role this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last season, some of the girls in this class got their feet wet getting varsity minutes. Over the course of the travel ball season, many of them played some big-time basketball across various circuits. I mean, they really stepped up their game and made a name for themselves. This class is going to be interesting this upcoming year as they look to take the reins in various aspects. What I love about this class is they aren't dodging any smoke. They want to get better and be better. The will to win is there, and they want the opportunity to compete. Looking at this bunch, they may not be proven just yet, but they want to measure themselves and see where they stack up.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This season will be an interesting one for this class. Don't worry, just like all the others, we will have a ton of girls who will get the exposure to play at the next level. Her quick shot release is ridiculous. A three-level scoring threat, she is going to find the bottom of the net consistently. A tough competitor who doesn't back down, she's ready to help carry the load for a talented LHS squad. This kid is a gym rat. A battle-tested hooper who wants the big stage. She isn't afraid of the lights. Her thing is she gets at it no matter what is at stake. A shifty guard who can attack downhill and finish at the rim. She has a nice stroke from the field, and her attacking ability is solid. A heady ballplayer who can find the hot hand, delivering right where the ball needs to be for her teammates to shoot it. She is a tough defender who creates havoc. She is going to poke balls loose more oftentimes than not, and then it is off to the races. She can be dominant with her back to the basket or attack you and finish you off with a counter move on her way to the rim. She blocks shots big time on the boards; her game has taken a notch up, and she is putting everyone on notice. A tough competitor, she will be ready to showcase her skills and help East make a nice postseason run. When I think of her, the word balanced comes to mind. Everything she does is fundamentally sound. She anticipates well. When she attacks, she goes to the rim, finishing off two. Within the offense, she reads her defender and knows when to curl the screen and get the shot off or spot up and release. Everything is balanced and towards the basket. She had a tremendous summer travel season, turning heads among both scouts and coaches. She plays the game the right way, with poise and precision. Look for her to have a monstrous year for the Lady Eagles and help them finish at the top of their district. An absolute dog, and when she gets going, she is hard to stop. Will and determination are two words that come to mind when thinking of this young lady. She is going to give it her all and do whatever she can to win. She is a multi-level scoring threat that is a tough competitor. Great shooting stroke, can take someone off the bounce and finish. Contributes on the boards and is just a solid all-around defender. She is one to watch this upcoming season as she looks to carry the momentum she laid from last season into this one.
